STATEMENT OF THE JOB
The Therapist for the Late-Life Depression Program provides counseling services using an evidence- based model of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to a specific target population of older adults within a specific geographical region of Riverside County. Therapist will also conduct outreach in the community to recruit prospective clients, attend regular meetings and training sessions. This position reports directly to the Director of Counseling Services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.        Provides individual counseling services to older adults according to fidelity of Late Life Depression CBT model.
2.        Manages a client caseload of eight to fourteen clients weekly.
3.        Actively builds and maintains community partnerships in support of providing Late Life Depression services.
4.        Conducts outreach in the community to recruit prospective clients.
5.        Screens and assesses prospective clients using approved program tools.
6.        Provides other community referrals for those who do not qualify for program.
7.        Develops and implements a therapeutic treatment plan as prescribed by the program model.
8.        Administers and scores the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and uses information to develop a therapeutic plan within the framework of establish treatment model.
9.        Completes case notes, case recording, programmatic paperwork and other documentation in a timely manner as required.
10.        Provides case management services to client and/or client’s family as necessary.
11.        Attend program meetings as necessary.
12.        Complies with programmatic and agency policies and procedures.
13.        Participates in supervision and seeks additional assistance when necessary.
14.        Performs other duties as may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

1.        Commitment to the Catholic Charities’ mission – “Providing Help, Creating Hope”.
2.        Registered, and in good standing, with Board of Behavioral Science (BBS) for Licensing as Marriage and Family Therapist or Clinical Social Worker.
3.        Have a reliable automobile to use and possess a valid CA driver’s license.
4.        Possess culturally competent counseling skills, demonstrate knowledge of CBT techniques and have sensitivity to aging issues as related to mental health and counseling.
5.        Maintains the highest standards of ethical client care, client confidentiality and adheres to all agency’s policies.
6.        Ability to work independently and demonstrate team support and collaboration with colleagues.
7.        Support implementation of “best practices” and continuous improvement.
8.        Remain knowledgeable of current external community resources and referrals.
9.        Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Email and Internet).
10.        Successfully pass a background check.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bilingual Spanish, proficient in speaking, writing and reading.

The employee may occasionally be required to lift and move up to 20 pounds. The employee is required to sit for hours at a time driving a vehicle.
