Working at A Balanced Life allows one to live the mountain lifestyle while having a meaningful career that helps individuals and the surrounding community.
Advantages to working at A Balanced Life include an extremely helpful front office staff which means: MINIMAL PAPERWORK! Every therapists dream! The additional benefit of working in a private practice is making your own schedule that can change and work to your lifestyle (and in Lake Tahoe that can mean more ski or bike or ? time).

A Balanced Life is looking for a professional, self-motivated, organized, skilled, and qualified California BBS Registered LMFT, LCSW, Associate MFT or ASW to join our rapidly growing private practice in South Lake Tahoe. A Balanced Life is a professional therapy center that provides individual, child, couples, group, and family therapy to both private clients as well as to clients referred through community based programs. Working at A Balanced Life allows one to combine the opportunity to work in a private practice setting while also providing much needed services to the community through various programs and agencies including Child Protective Services, Victim’s Witness, Child Abuse Prevention counsel, and Early Head Start.

Job description: Duties would include assessment, diagnosis, and treatment using evidence-based therapeutic practices to achieve effective results using both brief therapy and long-term psychotherapy.

Here at A Balanced Life, the company provides the beautiful space, front office staff, clients, and does all the scheduling and billing. As a therapist here you are required to be available and on-time for 24-30 client hours a week, and a minimum of two evening hours until 7pm. Your duties would be to provide quality therapy and any referrals as needed, collaborate with other clinicians and agencies as needed, execute documents timely and according to legal and ethical state and federal standards, attend court when subpoenaed, return calls to clients and other providers as needed, and abide by the company rules and policies.

Expect to attend monthly case compliance meetings in the court house, bi-weekly in house case consultation meetings, and attend occasional team treatment meetings with other agencies.

Weekly supervision will be provided free of charge by one of our approved supervisors for Associates. It is expected for you to continue to educate yourself to be the best therapist possible, both on your own and with the feedback and direction given in supervision.

We use an electronic medical system where progress notes are entered in a timely fashion for each client. It is also expected to provide a one page monthly treatment plan on all clients who are contracted through our Child Protective Services contract.

Please note, this is a private practice so it does take time to build a clientele, expect to do some self-promoting and to attend community meetings to integrate into the South Lake Tahoe community. It usually takes approximately 2-4 months to build a full case load. Initially most cases are through our contracts and over time as you gain positive regard in our community, your own private clientele will emerge and grow.

We are looking for someone to join the team who provides high quality ethical care, who’s version of on-time is early, is highly organized, self-motivated, follows the office policies, works well with others, has the desire to help heal the community as a whole, is open to feedback, direction and collaboration, and who gets results from providing evidence-based therapies with their clients. It is expected that you keep your progress notes up to date in a timely manner with no greater than a 2 week lapse. It is also important that you work well with others as the team aspect here at A Balanced Life is essential to the culture and values of the company. It is expected that each team member support the other clinicians and staff members in whatever ways possible, creating a thriving atmosphere of support, growth, and respect. Healthy and respectful communication and interpersonal effectiveness skills is a must. Having a positive attitude and healthy work boundaries and lifestyle are additional important qualities of our team members.

Our ideal licensed clinician is trained in providing evidence-based couples therapy such as Emotionally Focused Therapy or The Gottman Method, and/or in trauma specific therapy, such as EMDR.
