THERAPIST II — $4,075 – $5,223 per month plus benefits

THERAPIST III — $4,501 – $5,767 per month plus benefits

The hiring salary range indicated above has six steps with approximately 5% between each step. New employees normally start at step one and after satisfactory performance during a 12 month probationary period, advance to the second step. Thereafter, annual merit step increases are based upon satisfactory performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps (eligibility every two years) with approximately 2.5% between each step.

ABOUT THE POSITION: **

Under the direction of the Director of Behavioral Health or designee, this clinical position provides individual, family and/or group psychotherapy in a variety of clinical settings. The Therapist II is a journey level position and the licensed Therapist III is the most experienced level. There is one position available at the Behavioral Health Department. This recruitment may be used to fill other Therapist openings within the county without reposting.

*MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
*

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

BOTH LEVELS

  • California Drivers License.
  • A Master’s degree in counseling, social work or a closely related field
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required.

THERAPIST II

  • Required practicum experience as required by the specific Master’s program.
  • Possession of or applied for registration as a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern or an Associate of Clinical Social Work with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.

THERAPIST III

  • Complete Clinical Supervision Training as authorized by the California Board of Behavioral Services when eligible.
  • Two years post graduate related experience of increasing responsibility.
  • Current registration as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

The successful applicant will be required to provide an official INF-1125 Driver Record printout and college transcripts verifying degree or equivalency upon acceptance of job offer.

*RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Important responsibilities and duties (all levels) may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Participates in the intake process and the evaluation of problems presented by potential clients; develops appropriate treatment plans.

Maintains client records in an electronic health record.

Provides counseling services to children and adults with mental health disorders, and their family members, when appropriate utilizing individual, group, marital or family treatment methods.

Provides prevention and education services in schools and other community agencies.

Interprets and explains to community groups the social and emotional factors pertaining to emotional and substance abuse disorders in order to provide a better understanding of the social, environmental, emotional, and physical problems experienced by a family in crisis.

Develops and provides prevention and education services in schools and other community agencies.

Provides crisis services in the clinic and other settings such as the emergency room or the county jail, as needed.

Provides professional assistance to staff as needed.

Performs related duties as required.

Therapist III:

In addition to the duties listed above:

Provides clinical supervision to interns and/or associates.
