PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The role of the Educational Support Services (ESS) School Counselor is to provide assessment, planning, and implementation of supportive services based on the needs of the youth and family and the guiding principles of the agency’s philosophy of strength based, family focused, needs driven and culturally competent. School Counselor must work collaboratively with colleagues, school, youth, and family as a team and follows the youth throughout area of care (school, home and community phases).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters or Doctoral degree from an accredited or state approved program that meets criteria for licensing as a clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist or clinical psychologist. Must be waiver-able or registered with the appropriate licensing board to provide psychotherapy.
  • Must have skills necessary to engage and work with others from diverse backgrounds
  • Maintain a non-judgmental attitude toward families
  • Maintain required licenses and certifications to perform role
  • Preferred Pupile Personnel Services (PPS) Credential
  • Preferred experience working in strenth-based, needs-driven teams guided by youth and family choices.
  • Must be able to speak and write in Spanish
