About Us: St Anne’s, established in 1908, is a nonprofit organization. We have a number of programs including a residential facility for at risk girls, a transitional housing program for at risk women, an Early Learning Center for their children as well as providing mental health services to families within our area. We have recently added five off-site Head Start Centers in our local neighborhood.

St. Anne’s is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA), an independent organization that ensures all of our programs and services are being delivered at the highest possible standards.

Responsibilities:

  • The Mental Health Specialist performs a full-range of social casework and related service activities, including assessment of client needs and the development and implementation of social service plans and coordinating services to meet clients’ needs.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
    1. Conduct and review screenings for development, sensory and behavioral concerns, and ongoing observations.
    2. Provide mental health psychoeducation to parents and educational staff as well as guidance in and implementation of strategies to best individualize programming and address mental health-related functional impairments.
    3. Complete the PHQ-9 screening tool.
    4. Conduct classroom and socialization observations as well as home visits to determine child and family’s need in order to make recommendations for interventions.
    5. Assist as needed in urgent mental health crises.
    6. Assist parents as needed with completing any applications processes relating to mental health services
    7. Discuss individual concerns with parents and help them understand mental health issues and interventions.
    8. Communicate and work with parents on issues related to their child’s mental health.
    9. Provide information to families about mental health community resources, assist clients in accessing those resources, and follow up as needed.
    10. Refer and link client and family members to ongoing mental health services and to other community resources as needed.
    11. Every month, be onsite for at least an hour at each center to assist families with mental health-related questions and needs.
    12. Keep, maintain, and close out mental health files.
    13. Track all services rendered to maintain compliance.
    14. Analyze and enter info from multiple screening tools into ChildPlus.
    15. Maintain resource library of mental health materials and track checking out/in.
    16. Meet with funder’s specialist for monitoring visits.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or Family Therapy.
    2. Ability to be registered with California BBS.
    3. Experience working with at-risk populations and/or Head Start/Early Head Start.
    4. Strong clinical skills in individual, family, and group therapy.
    5. Bilingual Spanish.
    6. Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and driving record acceptable to agency’s insurance carrier
    7. Able to communicate effectively with both children and adults.
