Description
Under the supervision of the Program Director of the St. Vincent de Paul’s Emergency Placement Center for Children, the Clinical Social Worker is directly responsible for the planning and delivery of case management and mental health treatment services for Maryvale’s St. Vincent de Paul’s Emergency Placement Center for Children.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
The Clinical Social Worker has the primary responsibility for the overall delivery of case management and mental health services for Maryvale’s St. Vincent de Paul’s Emergency Placement Center for Children. The Clinical Social Worker is responsible for consulting with the Program Director and Director of Clinical Services in reference to treatment goals, treatment plans, continual placement, goals adjustment and refinement of the clients overall program.
1. Completes child and adolescent initial diagnostic intake assessments or psychological assessments when applicable.
2. Familiar with utilization of DSM-IV-TR.
3. Conducts continuous re-evaluation and case management in consultation with primary supervisor and other treatment team members of the St. Vincent de Paul’s Emergency Placement Center for Children.
4. Provide family consultation and therapy as needed with parents/primary caregivers/support system in the family’s home and/or on-site.
5. The Clinical Social Worker:
a. Makes behavioral assessments.
b. Selects appropriate short-term psychotherapeutic approaches.
c. Establishes frequency of therapy and case management sessions.
d. Understands the nature of Children’s Assessment Center.
e. Integrates psychiatric, psychological, and neurological evaluations and consultations.
f. Schedules and initiates 7 Day case conferences with the County, ongoing case conferences, and Consultation with County officials.
6. Provide school observation and consultation as necessary.
7. Consults and collaborates with the Director of Clinical Services, Program Director of the St. Vincent de Paul’s Emergency Placement Center for Children, Director of Residential Services and Vice President of Clinical Services.
8. Consults and collaborates with various external professionals working on behalf of the client and family; including school, community partners, DCFS and DMH advocates, CSW’s, Attorneys, CASA Workers, etc.
9. In collaboration with the legal guardian/family and DCFS, plans and oversees client’s/family’s discharge from Maryvale to ensure appropriate support systems are available upon discharge. Makes placement recommendations to DCFS at case conferences.
10. Consults and collaborates with the Program Director (when applicable) to ensure client’s/family’s needs are met.
11. Attends internal and external multidisciplinary case review meetings including Case Conferences, TDM’s, core team and team meetings, and Discharge Planning meetings, etc.
12. Attends Mental Health Department Meetings, in-service trainings, and supervision.
13. Responsible for meeting DMH treatment and documentation contract compliance standards and expectations.
14. Responsible for providing Emergency Shelter Care Program staff with client treatment information and updates to assist in measuring progress and completing DCFS Group Home documentation compliance standards.
15. Perform other duties as requested.
16. Conducts intake to the program as needed.
Skills
1. Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field or Doctorate Degree in Psychology; from an approved graduate school
2. Licensed, Licensed eligible, or Waivered per DMH.
3. Must be registered with the BBS or BOP.
4. Training in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Positive Parenting Program (Triple P), and/or Alternatives for Families: A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT) evidence based practices highly desirable.
Notes
1. Flexible hours dependent upon clients/families schedules (school, work, other programs).
2. Position may require evening hours and weekend availability to be arranged to meet clients’ needs and that of the overall program.
