The Intensive Treatment Foster Care (ITFC) Clinician is responsible for both the clinical treatment and case management of up to eight children placed in treatment foster homes. Seneca’s ITFC program serves children aged 6-18 who have emotional and behavioral challenges due to histories of trauma, neglect and abuse. With a focus on the strengths and value of each child, the team helps foster youth to recover and flourish as they learn coping skills and improve their ability to regulate feelings and behaviors.

Responsibilities:

  • Function as the team leader and coordinate all treatment and placement activities
  • Design and implement each child’s treatment plan in conjunction with the In-Home Support Counselor
  • Assist in screening and selection of foster parents
  • Coordinate all activities involving the birth parents (including counseling, court appearances, home visits and reunification efforts) in conjunction with the In-Home Support Counselor
  • Provide in-home training and support to the foster parents during weekly meetings
  • Provide weekly support for each foster child/foster parent and visit child in the foster home at least once per week
  • Attend all program staff meetings, treatment reviews, IEPs and other agency meetings as necessary
  • Supervise the In-Home Support Counselor on clinical issues, casework issues and written reports for each case
  • Part of the Rapid Response Crisis on-call calendar
  • Meet at least once per week with the ITFC Director or, when the director is not available, the Executive Director or designated supervisor
  • Chart weekly progress notes and quarterly summaries along with other documents needed for treatment services, including assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans
  • Intervene with the clients’ behavior management program as needed. This includes physical management of the clients (implementation of Seneca Center’s Ahimsa Model Training) as necessary
  • Perform all other duties as necessary for the good of the agency as directed by supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, or related in field of social services
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English required
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience working with emotionally disturbed children in out-of-home care
  • Good organizational skills
  • Own vehicle, valid California Drivers License and insurance
  • Be insurable by Seneca’s automobile insurance company
