Real Connections provides social-emotional based developmental services to children with special needs. CURRENTLY HIRING – 1:1 Development Specialist
We are currently hiring Developmental Specialists to work one to one with children and young adults with developmental disabilities (Autism, sensory integration processing, and Asperger’s). Developmental Specialist will gain knowledge on DIR/Floortime model. As well as gain experience on how to provide positive interactions, including both play-based and reality-based dialogues focusing on emotional and/or relational themes. Players report directly to their Supervisors and are responsible for implementing specific programs for their specific clients.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must have:

  • 3 or more afternoons/evenings, in the range 2-7pm available to apply
  • 2 years or more of undergraduate course work in the fields of Psychology, Education, Child Development, or other related fields.
  • Must be able to provide 2 forms of ID (driver’s license, passport, s.s.c)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • A reliable vehicle
  • Have ability to effectively communicate with parents and caregivers
  • Some experience in working with children
  • Bilingual skills are a plus!
  • Applicants must be energetic, compassionate, fun, creative, and love to play

We require a two-year commitment; or in special circumstances commitment time may be adjusted based on remaining MFT intern hours.

  • Job description begins with and covers requirements for Floortime Players according to the FTP job description
  • Pay rate will be hourly for services provided plus supervision and driving between job sites
  • Any private pay client’s that you may work with would be paid separately from your salary rate at 1/2 of the fee you charge the clients. For example, if you see a family in the office and they pay $100 per hour you would be paid $50 per billed hour by Real Connections.
  • Job duties would at minimum include:
  • Providing Floortime play as a supplement to the home (or possibly school) program according to the family’s comprehensive intervention plan
  • Once training and support have prepared you to understanding the DIR model in a comprehensive and integrated way, providing Floortime Family Consultation to guide families in development and implementation of a comprehensive intervention plan and multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Conducting intake assessments and writing up treatment plans for Regional Center funded services
  • Conducting case presentations for staff meetings
  • Weekly supervision and training in accordance with BBS requirements
  • Additional possibilities for internship projects could include (may or may not be included in paid hours):
  • Program development
  • Coordinating and/or facilitating social skills and parent training groups
  • Grant development
  • Co-writing and submitting for publication proposed neurobiological framework for treatment planning for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders
