Skills required:
Ability to communicate effectively the essential clinical features of each case and engage is case collaboration and treatment planning. Strong clinical and interpersonal skills. Strong knowledge of the psychological and physiological effects of eating disorders. Knowledge of best practices for eating disorder, treatment, appropriate documentation, and clinical practice.
Job Functions and Duties:
Provides primary individual, group and family psychotherapy to patients in all phases of treatment, with broad age ranges, and diagnoses of Eating, Mood, Anxiety, and DSM-IV Axis I Disorders as well as Axis II Disorders.
Provides specialized psychotherapy, psychoeducation groups and Multi-family groups according to education and training. Documents all treatment activities and significant contacts with the patient in accordance with Policies and Procedures. Records therapeutic interactions, data and therapeutic goals in concise, readable format in EMR system on a timely basis. Identifies significant changes in patients’ clinical status and communicates to appropriate member(s) of treatment team. Maintains all standards of confidentiality. Interacts professionally, respectfully and flexibly with patients, families and staff in performance of daily duties. Complies with continuing education requirements of field and completes required annual competencies. Calls insurance companies for authorizations and ongoing utilization management, writes appeals for clients, summarizing the medical necessity criteria met for each client.
Education required:
Master’s Degree or Higher in Psychology
MFT, PsyD, PhD, LCSW, LPCC or LPCC or MFT Registered Intern, with valid license in good standing in the state of California
Experience required:
Previous experience providing psychotherapy for clients with eating disorders in either an organizational or institutional setting or in a private practice setting is strongly preferred, but not required
