STAND! For Families Free of Violence is currently seeking a full time case manager for our Differential Response program. This program serves families who are at risk of having their children placed in foster care, and supports them while they voluntarily participate in services that engage the family, and recognize and build on their own strengths to improve family functioning and enhance the well-being of the children.

The case manager will work with social workers and staff from County agencies and community organizations in a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting families. They will make referrals and assist clients with life skills, parent education, build self-sufficiency skills, and increase stability in areas including housing, education, finances and mental health. They monitor their clients’ progress towards their goals, and advocate on their behalf when needed. DR case managers may also perform crisis intervention during problem resolution and arrange for the provision of needed services.

This is a home visit-based program and the case manager should feel comfortable working with clients in their homes and out in the community. STAND!’s facilities, our partners, and our clients, are located across Contra Costa County.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate for this position must have recent experience working with families. The ideal candidate will approach their work with our clients from a strengths-based perspective, and embody a trauma-informed, non-judgmental manner.

The following is also required:

  • AA degree plus six years related experience working with at-risk families or youth, or
  • BA/BS degree plus four years related experience working with at-risk families or youth or
  • MA/MS degree plus two years related experience working with at-risk families or youth

(Experience can be satisfied by years of school on a one-to-one basis)

  • General knowledge of child development, positive behavioral modification practices, effective parenting skills and DSM V diagnoses
  • Ability to work independently in-house and in the community
  • Excellent organization, communication and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills

  • Proficiency in computer skills, especially using Word, Excel, customized databases and Outlook
  • Commitment to maintain shelter-site confidentiality
  • Understanding of the Agency’s mission and ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with clients in all circumstances

Employment with STAND! is contingent upon clear fingerprint, criminal history check, clear MVR, and successfully completing U.S. Department of Justice Form I9. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of the Agency’s mission-related required training.

Preferred qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills
  • Experience working with clients impacted by family violence and abuse with specialized knowledge of trauma
  • Knowledge of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parent Child Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, Nurturing Parenting and EMDR.
  • M.S. or M.A. degree in counseling or related field
  • Knowledge of resources in Contra Costa County.
