I run a private practice dedicated to upholding high standards of compassionate, trauma informed care with ecological and social justice always in focus. I am looking for an associate therapist who wants excellent training in developing a private practice. I am especially interested in a candidate who wishes to receive training in ecopsychology and treating climate distress, though I will consider a generalist. This is a hybrid position in Long Beach, CA
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual, couples, and family sessions to clients.
- Conduct intake assessments and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Participate in regular supervision meetings.
- Stay updated on best practices and advancements in the field of therapy.
- Collaborate with other mental health professionals and community resources.
- Adhere to legal and ethical standards of practice.
- Perform marketing tasks to build your own client base (some referrals provided)
Position includes:
- Caring, individualized supervision so you can gain hours for licensure.
- Support for developing a private practice that you may take with you when you are licensed.
- Some referrals when appropriate.
- Training in ecopsychology or treating climate distress if desired.
- Allowance for trainings may be negotiated as part of compensation.
Salary: Negotiated split of fees from clients. Some office work at $20/hr is possible to supplement income.
Hours: Therapist must be willing to build up to and maintain a case load of a minimum of 10 contact hours a week. Some availability on weeknights and weekends needed for use of the office. Therapist may do telehealth at home but must be available for in-person supervision at my Long Beach office.
Skills and Experience Desired:
- Active, unrestricted registration as an AMFT or APCC with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
- Strong understanding of therapeutic principles and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.

The City of Carlsbad’s Police Department is currently seeking GUIDE (Greater Understanding through Intervention, Diversion & Education) Program Associates/Counselors! Post masters’ degree registered (AMFT) associates will work part-time (15-20 hours per week during the school year) as counselors in Carlsbad elementary and middle schools.
