HealthRight 360 is a 200 bed residential facility for men who are in custody and on parole.  We provide comprehensive substance use disorder, mental health, and psychiatric care by an interdisciplinary team of professionals. Treatment episode ranges in time from 60 days to 12 months. HealthRight 360 is a fast-based environment where communication is paramount in order to provide cutting edge services to men in a residential treatment setting as well as their families.

The Men’s Residential Therapist provides quality trauma-informed mental health treatment services to a caseload of dually diagnosed (mental health and substance abuse) clients in a 45-day stabilization and a long term (up to 6 months) residential setting. The therapist assesses clients’ treatment needs with program staff, performs risk assessment, provides individual, group and family therapy services, develops treatment plans for assigned clients and maintains all appropriate documentation. The therapist also provides crisis intervention services when needed and more generally, works with the treatment team to provide community development within the client population. Additionally, therapist supports the client community and program staff by providing logistical support to clients in managing day to day activities.

Key Responsibilities

Individual Treatment Responsibilities:

Manages an individual therapy caseload. Performs individual psychotherapy services in a residential setting and on an outpatient basis as needed. Provides counseling, support and psycho-education about HIV for triple diagnosed individuals that include screening clients for appropriate levels of services, assessments, treatment planning, case management, and referrals. Maintains confidentiality while working as part of a treatment team and adhering with program norms. Participates in case conferences, treatment planning and clinical discussions to provide holistic care. Communicates with prescribing psychiatrists regarding psychotropic medication compliance, side effects, follow up appointments.

Treatment Setting Responsibilities:

Facilitates/co-facilitates process and psycho-educational groups for chronically mentally ill adults with co-morbid substance abuse diagnoses. Assists Intake Department with initial psychological assessments for individuals seeking admission to program. Assists clients and their care coordinators with referrals and other linkages to community resources. Performs floor duties in the milieu that include (but are not limited to) assisting clients in coordinating outside appointments and transportation, overseeing client participation in program activities, monitoring medications compliance, and mediating client conflict when it arises. Actively participate with the treatment team to continuously assess and refine clinical programming efforts. Manages client risk and crisis intervention. On call after hours as needed. Attends staff and agency meetings. Participates in agency trainings as required. Complies with Board requirements for license registration/renewal.

Documentation Responsibilities:

Conducts mental health assessments, develops treatment plans, completes release and consent forms, billing and reporting paperwork in hard copy and online in various electronic systems. Documents individual and group services delivered in various electronic systems in accordance with guidelines established by HealthRIGHT 360 to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements.

And, other duties as assigned.

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education and Experience Required:

  • Licensed or Board Registered MFT or MFTI, LCSW or ASW, Psy.D. or Ph.D.
  • Minimum two years of experience in dual diagnosis substance abuse treatment in an inpatient or outpatient community mental health setting
  • Supervised experience in mental health or psychiatric setting with varied populations
  • Demonstrated clinical paperwork and record keeping abilities
  • Familiarity with trauma informed therapy models, cognitive–behavioral therapy, brief psychotherapy and psycho-educational approaches.
  • Familiarity with working with psychotic and other severe mental health presentations
  • Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Clinical experience in performing risk assessment and crisis intervention

Desired:

  • LCSW
  • Clinical experience and understanding of issues related to HIV/AIDS

Background Clearance Required:

  • Must not be on active parole or probation, clear with OIG database.
  • Ability to pass and maintain a CDCR security clearance, includes FBI and DOJ

Knowledge Required:

  • Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word Outlook and internet applications
  • Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self sufficiency

Desired:

  • Familiarity with harm reduction models
  • Knowledge of DBT, CBT, MI and trauma based treatment highly desirable

  • Knowledge of trauma, co-occurring disorders and substance abuse treatment
  • Knowledge of Clinical documentation (treatment plans, progress notes etc.)
  • Experience working with criminal justice population
  • Bilingual
