Our experienced staff of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Mental Health Specialists, Parent Partners and other therapists/counselors provide case management, mental health care and a range of support services in schools, homes or other community settings. Our dedicated teams work collaboratively and in partnership with family members, school administrators and faculty, county social workers, case managers, probation officers and other agencies.
JOB SUMMARY: This position has primary responsibility for providing
individual and group mental health services and case management services to children,
adolescents, adults and their families. Services include but are not limited to
individual, family and collateral therapy, bio-psycho-social assessments, treatment/service
planning, discharge planning, etc. Functions as crisis intervention clinician
as needed. He/she acts as liaison with external agencies and functions on teams
with other clinical & support staff. S/he documents and bills for mental
health and case management services and completes outcomes information. May be
requested to obtain additional certifications as needed, including for
evidenced based practices. AMFT/ASW intern staff (that meet
qualifications) may be asked to become LPS designee certified to facilitate the
completion of “applications 5150/5585” for clients in need of such.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
MHSII
Master’s degree in a mental health/social services field with BBS Registered
intern number.
MHSIII
Master’s degree in mental health/social services field with BBS License.
Experience
Two
years’ experience in a mental health field with age group(s) to be served by
the position in residential or outpatient settings preferred.
License
or Certification
MHSII
MHSIII
Valid California
Driver’s License.
Current Substance Abuse
Counselor or Chemical Dependency Counselor certification (Certificate program
from an organization on the California DHCS list of certifying organizations)
preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Interviews referred clients and assess/evaluate their
appropriateness and need for services.
Functions as Crisis Intervention clinician as needed.
Maintains vigilance over the general milieu within the
facility to facilitate quality client care, optimum facility operations and
preserve the safety of all therein.
Uses ProACT to appropriately intervene with
assaultive/volatile clients.
Works with clients, their families, representatives of
referring agencies, and other relevant parties to promote rehabilitation and
amelioration of problems which interfere with productive social and emotional
daily living.
Uses understanding of psychiatric illness and mental
health interventions, including co-occurring substance abuse disorders to
interact and intervene appropriately with clients.
Performs accurate mental health evaluations.
Provides effective individual mental health
rehabilitation and case management services.
Performs accurate basic dual diagnosis evaluations and makes
appropriate referrals for dual diagnosis consults and treatment.
Acts as liaison with various external agencies (e.g. Dept.
of Children and Family Services, Dept. of Mental Health, Probation Dept.,
Dependency Court, Law Enforcement, etc.) to facilitate clients’ adjustment in
daily living routines.
Assists in preparing clients for lasting and successful
housing, vocational, educational, and treatment experiences.
Assists in crisis intervention (including the use of ProACT)
and provide support and assistance in problem resolution.
Participates
in ProACT Team assignments and activities.
Provides
assessment and support services on an inpatient basis including mental health services
and case management services as outlined in the care and treatment plan.
Ability
to coordinate client discharges in a clinically and administratively
appropriate manner, in accordance with agency protocols.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Interacts and communicates, both verbally and in writing, with seriously
emotionally disturbed children, adolescents or adults and their caregivers;
other staff, physicians, county agencies, other health care and social services
providers and the public.
Appropriately conducts and participates in client treatment planning
meetings.
Maintains on-going relations with other county agencies, health care
facilities, placement centers and other resources necessary to affect the
continuum of care for clients.
Interacts and communicates with other clinical and non-clinical staff.
Complete all required forms, chart reviews and chart updates in a timely
manner and in accordance with agency protocols.
Produces
clear, concise, timely and professional documentation and correspondence in
accordance with county and agency protocols.
Uses
knowledge of community resources in specialty fields (i.e. Mental Health,
Education, Medical, Criminal Justice, and Social Services) to make appropriate linkages. Uses
internal agency Specialty Programs to make appropriate referrals.
Reads
and responds to company communications via email, telephone or other selected
mode within a reasonable timeframe. Logs in to established company information
sharing sites regularly to maintain current knowledge of changes in policy,
procedure, events, etc.
Regularly
attends department meetings and mandatory work meetings, events, etc. as
assigned by Management/Administration.
Monitors
and contributes to the cleanliness of the facility.
Actively
participates in the agency’s and SBHG’s Total Quality Management and Continuous
Quality Improvement systems which support compliance with Joint Commission and
other accreditation standards as applicable.
Participates
in TQM activities as requested including CQI subcommittees, probes, peer
review, audit and/or tracer activities.
