Summary:
Under the supervision of the Program Manager the Therapist provides intensive outpatient behavioral health services and case management for Seriously Emotionally Disturbed (SED) children and families utilizing a comprehensive approach that is community based, client and family driven, trauma informed, and culturally competent. The focus of this program is to provide services to underserved Asian Pacific Islander (API) and Latino SED clients with emphasis on API clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides community based practices by connecting with API and Latino communities and other service providers
• Provides intensive short term in home, clinic, and/or community based outpatient behavioral health services with individuals, families and groups
• Conducts outreach to API, Latino and other ethnic communities regarding education on mental health and services at UPAC
• Receives referrals from community organizations and community members with appropriate follow-up including crisis intervention
• Provides a minimum of one family session a month
• Manages a 21+ caseload of Severely Emotionally Disturbed clients
• Conducts regular mental health screenings and behavioral health assessments
• Provides case management, family education/support and crisis intervention as needed
• Functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and participates in diagnosis, client plan development, treatment and discharge planning
• Participates in staff meetings, case conferences, trainings, treatment utilization reviews and other quality assurance activities
• Prepares medical records of all services rendered, mental status examinations, progress notes, treatment plans, quality assurance forms and completed required outcome measures
• Provides accurate and timely documentation of required reports
• Utilization of Electronic Medical Record system
• Some evening and weekend work required
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
• Masters degree in counseling from an accredited MFT Program or MSW Program or completion of or current participation in and an APA Accredited Doctoral Internship in Clinical Psychology
• Current CA licensed MFT/MSW or CA registered MFT/MSW/Psych Intern
• Experienced and knowledge of principles and practice in providing outpatient, community based mental health services
• Familiarity with community resources and delivery of case management services
• Knowledge and experience in working with children, adolescents and families of the Asian/Pacific Islander and Latino communities
• Bilingual in Spanish
• Ability to establish and maintain diagnostic and psychotherapeutic relationships with clear understanding of ethical and professional standards
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with regard to sensitive or proprietary information or materials
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize and successfully bring them to fruition
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must demonstrate intermediate level of computer literacy and experience using office productivity software (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email programs).
Preferred Additional Education and Experience:
• Trained in Motivational Interviewing and/or Trauma Informed Care
• Experience in Dual Diagnosis treatment
• Trained in Anasazi Electronic Medical Records System
• Knowledge of County contracted Medi-Cal and MHSA programs
• Knowledge of San Diego County documentation standards
Miscellaneous:
• Position involves working in Central Region area of San Diego. Must have own transportation for business purposes. If employee drives his/her personal automobile for UPAC business, employee must have a valid driver’s license and comprehensive automobile insurance coverage, as required by law
• Will not be debarred or excluded from participation in Federal programs by the General Services Administration and/or the Department of Health and Human Services of the Inspector General
• Must pass fingerprint background check (Live Scan)
• Must have TB clearance
