Description
The Violence Intervention Program (VIP)treats the effects of all types of abuse while also emphasizing community-based prevention to end the cycle of family violence. The VIP is world renowned for its programs which together provide medical, forensic, mental health and social services for all victims of violence. VIP, in partnership with DCFS, DHS, and DMH, created the HUB’s a full-service health care system for children in our at risk for our of home placements. The VIP HUB located at LAC-USC County Hospital serves children ages 0-18 under DCFS supervision, children who are heightened risk for abuse, re-abuse & neglect, including those with complex medical or psychiatric problems that require special treatment & monitoring. CATC provides 24-hour/7days a week forensic & medical evaluations for any child who may have been abused.Children’s Field Capable Services (FCCS) are specialty mental health services provided to children/youth, ages 0-15 by professionals and paraprofessionals specially trained to recognize and respond to the unique biopsychosocial needs of children/youth. Case Manager is responsible for providing field-based case management services, linkage, resources, and rehabilitation services to children and youth. The Shared CORE Practice Model guides all services children and youth receive from the Youth Placement Stabilization Team.VIP is currently seeking a FCCS Clinical Therapist with the ability to work collaboratively with members of inter-disciplinary teams; and ability to provide ongoing clinical consultation to DCFS and DMH; Develop relationships and ongoing communication with DCFS workers and other staff; Demonstrated awareness of, sensitivity to and competence in dealing with cultural and socioeconomic diversity of client population; Must have experience working with children, adolescents and families; Ability to exercise good judgment and act calmly in emergency situations; Is available (on rotation) for crisis support to clients 24/7 (telephone only); Experience and ability to work in a fast paced environment with good time management skills; Daily travel is required which may include transportation of clients; Complete all required documentation in accordance with regulations (e.g. DMH); and maintain all appropriate records including crisis intervention files and/or incident reports, clinical notes and other records as required. Follow agency policies and procedures; Participate in VIP in-service training programs; and perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
Licensed or Board Registered Ph.D/Psy.D/MSW/MFT and two (2) years documented experience in a mental health setting; Spanish speaking a plus; Experience with high risk children and adolescents; Self-starter, independent therapist with the ability to adapt to change in a fast working environment.
Notes
Valid California drivers license, driving record and personal vehicle insurance acceptable to VIP’s insurance carrier; Good written and verbal communication skills; The ability to relate effectively and professionally with children, supervisor, co-workers and staff.
