The County of San Mateo Health System is seeking well-qualified individuals for the position of Psychiatric Social Worker/Marriage & Family Therapist-Adult Services-Spanish Speaking Required.
Clinicians will use of evidence-based clinical case management and individual, group and family therapy. These interventions are provided in an office setting and/or in the community as needed to consumers who are living in the community. Clinicians are committed to providing trauma informed recovery focused treatment that supports the clients’ goals of independence and self-sufficiency with peer support. These positions embrace the challenge of providing simultaneous co-occurring treatment for both mental illness and substance use disorders; to work in an adult outpatient setting as a member of a multidisciplinary team in collaboration and within the system of care. In addition, the positions involve outreach to underserved populations, primarily the Latino communities of San Mateo County.

PSW/MFT I: $5,436 – $6,795/month
PSW/MFT II: $6,096 – $7,621/month

PSW I – current California registration as a Clinical Social Worker Associate (ASW).
MFT I – current California Registration as a Marriage and Family Therapist intern (IMF).
PSW-II – current California license as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
MFT II – current California license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT).
Language Requirement: The ability to speak, read, and write fluently in both English and Spanish.
Security Clearance: Some positions may require that the applicant obtain and maintain a security clearance as a condition of employment.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is a Master’s degree in Social Work and Counseling or a closely related field.

Current San Mateo County employees with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in a classified regular, probationary, SEIU or AFSCME represented extra-help, or temporary position prior to the final filing date will receive five points added to their final passing score on this examination. The examination process will consist of an application screening (weight: pass/fail) based on the candidates’ applications and responses to the supplemental questionnaire. Candidates who pass the application screening will be invited to a panel interview (weight: 100%). Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations, or further evaluation of work experience may be conducted to group applicants by level of qualification. All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. All examinations will be given in San Mateo County, California, and applicants must participate at their own expense.
