Hourly Rate: $12/hour
Hours: 10-12 hours/week, excluding recess periods – Must be available 2 days/week, M-F between 8am-3pm with some nights and weekends
Location: Various GGUSD schools

Primary Function: Creates treatment plans, conducts individual, group and family treatment and school staff and parent education at various GGUSD school sites for children and families while maintaining a minimum caseload of 10 clients. Participates in team meetings as needed with GGUSD personnel and submits weekly updates on client progress. Provides comprehensive mental health services, case management and other related support services to eligible children and their families. Responsible for meeting weekly productivity expectations and maintaining accurate and up to date case records of all services in accordance with state and county regulations. Responsible for carrying an active caseload and maintaining a set work schedule.

Program Development & Implementation

  • Effectively supports the planning, development and implementation of school counseling program, services and activities
  • Adheres to proper documentation procedures according to Behavioral Board of Science and BGCGG standards
  • Effectively monitors and evaluates programs, services and activities by completing weekly client services log and direct services hour logs, monthly attendance tracking and submitting to supervisor
  • Ensures school counseling files are maintained accurately; ensures counseling goals and client progress are documented accurately and monitored for progress
  • Creates a school climate that is responsive to mental health needs that promotes academic success

Prepare Youth for Success

  • Supports programs, activities and services that prepare youth and families for success by incorporating the mission
  • Provides short term therapeutic interventions in a variety of modalities with academic success being the desired outcome. Creates an environment that promotes the physical, social and emotional well being of youth and their families by providing quality mental health services, improving child’s functioning and ensuring psychiatric services are coordinated and accessed in a timely manner

Health & Safety

  • Ensures program meets health and safety standards and ensures the safety of all members
  • Takes actions to prevent accidents and responds to injury and signs of illness
  • Ensures emergency procedures are implemented and followed

Self-Development

  • Ensures a productive work environment by working as a member of a team, contributing to team meetings and providing feedback to support decision making
  • Continuously develop personal knowledge and skills in each of the various BGCGG programs in order to diversity personal skills and integrate oneself into the community and organization as a whole
  • Communicates to the Director of School Based Counseling when additional training is needed
  • Must attend all program meetings and approved trainings as necessary

Partnership Development

  • Builds partnerships with parents, families, other BGCGG programs, staff and community partners
  • Attends weekly clinical supervision sessions, staff meetings, conferences and trainings as available

Marketing & Public Relations

  • Increases the visibility of BGCGG programs, services and activities through networking opportunities, outreach and community partnerships; ensures counseling clients are taking advantage of BGCGG opportunities and services available to them
  • Shares event announcements, program updates and distributes program flyers at events, meetings and when communicating with the community and BGCGG
  • Promotes and assists with BGCGG organizational events in addition to supporting organizational fundraising efforts

Technology

  • Effectively uses Microsoft Office programs, electronic scheduling and database software
  • Responds to technology issues in a timely manner by requesting assistance from supervisor within 24 hours
  • Document all services rendered including phone contact, completed services, referrals, etc. in database/case notes.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provides general staff support and works on special events and projects as assigned; collects donations and documents finances accurately when applicable
  • Works with diversified staff and understands the problems and issues facing families from a variety of ethnic and economic communities
  • Maintains and updates schedule and notifies supervisor(s) of changes within an acceptable amount of time based on BGCGG policies
  • Refers clients for valuable community resources and other BGCGG programs as needed
  • Reports all child abuse cases to CAR, complete CAR reports as needed and notify supervisor
  • Actively ensures that supervisor and clinical supervisor is aware of weekly schedule, program or caseload needs and any boundaries related to position requirements

Communication

  • Assists supervisor in delivering organizational and school counseling program expectations and changes to school and BGCGG personnel
  • Maintains close, daily contact with staff members and supervisors to receive and provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines and instructions
  • Maintains contact as needed with external community groups, schools, members, BGCGG partners and others to promote and ensure families are connected to referral resources successfully
  • Utilizes exceptionally strong verbal and writing skills; must be able to communicate and document needs and concerns clearly and provide correspondence in a clear and concise manner within 24 to 48 hours and in accordance with program standards

Qualifications

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Current MFT, ACSW, or LPCC registered intern with BBS, or Post-Graduate MFT, ACSW, or LPCC Intern with BBS registration pending.
  • One year clinical experience or equivalent
  • One year experience working with children/adolescents and families experiencing distress
  • Bilingual capabilities preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese)
  • Must be available to attend a minimum of 2 hours/week clinical supervision based on a consistent schedule for the entire school year

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as managing files and records, following up on phone calls, conducting meetings, completing reports, and tracking data; uses resources effectively; demonstrated experience in ethical standards of reporting
  • Written and verbal communication skills; a clear understanding of ethical and legal obligations under BBS
  • Skills working one-on-one with youth and adults; excellent documentation skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly
  • Ability to remain objective in crisis situations and maintain healthy boundaries
  • Ability to work productively with minimum supervision and to take initiative on projects; knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality regulations
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks within expected deadlines; excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
