Position Summary: Provides therapeutic services to child victims of child abuse, neglect and/or crime, domestic violence and/or sexual assault (CHAT funded) using evidence-based practices with a specialization in trauma treatment. Provides administrative and procedural supervision to interns/trainees assigned to Escondido office, shelter-based counseling services, clinical consultation to staff in other CCS departments, and training on crisis intervention, trauma, and other related topics for CCS staff and volunteers.

Essential Job Functions:
Therapeutic Services:
Conduct intake interviews and psycho-social assessments with incoming CHAT eligible clients.

Develop treatment plans, including appropriate referrals to CCS and other relevant services.

Provide short-term therapy to child victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault using evidence-based practices, with a specialization in trauma treatment and holistic mental health promotion.

Provide counseling services to residents of CCS’s domestic violence shelter, as needed.

Maintain 65% client contact ratio.

Manage client wait lists and assign cases to interns/ trainees, as needed.

Engage in professional development to maintain up-to-date on evidence-based therapeutic interventions for trauma treatment and psychological health promotion strategies.

Maintain professional certification as required by California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Maintain certification as Domestic Violence Counselor and Sexual Assault Victim Counselor under California evidence code by completing a minimum of 8 hours ongoing training annually.

Participate in weekly individual and group clinical supervision.

Participate in monthly counseling services staff meeting.

Participate in bi-weekly administrative supervision.

Intern/Trainee Support:
With other counseling staff, provide thorough orientation to new interns/trainees.

Provide ongoing on-site administrative/procedural task support of master’s-level clinical interns/trainees, in off-site absence of Counseling Services Manager

Direct all clinical questions and concerns from interns/trainees to Clinical Supervisor and/or Counseling Services Manager.

3. Training and Consultation:
Provide clinical consultation to staff from other CCS departments, participating in multidisciplinary case reviews as authorized by clients.

Participate in central county internal high risk team meetings representing counseling services.

Provide staff and volunteer training on basic crisis intervention skills, trauma, suicide intervention, and other topics.

4. Documentation and other Administrative Responsibilities:
Maintain thorough and accurate client files and Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) data management system as required by agency policy.

Maintain client confidentiality by protecting client information and ensuring that appropriate paperwork is understood and completed by clients (e.g. consent for services forms and release of information forms when collaborating with other programs/entities). Adhere to agency policies and protocols related to the security of all client service records.

Complete required monthly client contact reports and other program documents in a timely manner.

Submit administrative and personnel paperwork according to agency standards and due dates.

5. Teamwork and Community Relations

Assist in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with organizations and agencies to raise awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence, promote CCS services, and build a referral base for therapeutic services in areas that are beyond CCS’s Counseling Services scope or expertise.

Carry out other duties as necessary to ensure organizational success. All CCS staff members are encouraged to be flexible and responsive to changes in scope of duties.

Essential Job Requirements:
EDUCATION

Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or related field.

Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or licensed eligible MFT Intern registered with the respective discipline’s Board.

EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault issues and therapeutic approaches for child victims of abuse, neglect, and/or crime.

Experience and comfort with crisis intervention.

A minimum of two years’ experience providing child psychotherapy services in a nonprofit setting.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, SPECIALIZED TRAINING

Oral and written fluency in English and Spanish.

Must be in good standing and have a registered intern number with CA Board of Behavioral Sciences and be eligible for licensure in California.

Completion of 60-hour California state-approved Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Training required (or must be completed upon hiring).

Demonstrated knowledge of sexual assault and domestic violence issues, child abuse, neglect and crime, and prevention and intervention strategies for child victims. Experience and comfort working in crisis situations.

Strong written and oral communication skills, listening skills, and a demonstrated ability to foster a supportive environment for clients.

Strong interpersonal skills and clear professional boundaries.

Ability to work with clients and staff of varied backgrounds, educational levels, and ethnic origins. Must demonstrate an acceptance and respect for cultural diversity in all its forms, including ethnicity, sexual orientation, abilities, and religious backgrounds.

Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently as well as collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.

Computer competence with command of Windows environment and Microsoft Office applications. Comfort in a computer network environment. Demonstrated ability to use electronic information management system to document client services.

Live Scan criminal background check: FBI level processed through Department of Justice.

Must maintain reliable transportation available for work-related purposes, a valid California driver’s license, and proof of automobile insurance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in an office setting with a low-to-moderate noise level .

Ability to drive personal vehicle to serve clients in various office locations in San Diego County.

Ability to work in domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking fields, which at times inherently create safety concerns.

Frequent repetitive hand use and simple grasping (e.g., desk and computer functions)

Ability to sit for prolonged periods.

Some evening availability required for client services, training, etc.
