Statements of Purpose

The Intern works primarily with the client population, specifically individual, couple/family and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and case management.

Major Task, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clinical caseload of outpatient and RTC clientele and family members. Provide individual, group, family, and marital therapy.
  • Facilitates or conducts instructional, educational, and milieu activities for clients and families.
  • Participates in training, continuing education, and supervisory sessions.
  • Serves as team interviewer for family systems intake interviews.
  • Responsible for documentation of all clinical assessments, interventions and therapeutic contact.
  • Completes all clinical charting/record for assigned caseload, including all pertinent assessments, observations, and clinical issues within 72 hours or less.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor/director.
  • Will do process groups.
  • Reports to and is supervised by Clinical Director or other person designated by the Clinical Director.
  • Needs treatment team, group and individual supervision, as directed.

Prerequisite Qualifications

Following are the qualifications required to perform the essential functions of this position. Qualifications may be subject to modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act.

  • Possesses a Psy.D., or graduated from an approved Master’s program with a major in psychology, social work, family therapy, or related mental health discipline.
  • Licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an LCSW, MFT, MSW, or by the Board of Psychology as a licensed Psychologist.
  • Specific qualifications may vary based on assignment.
  • Class “C” Driver’s License.
  • Obtain CPR & First Aid certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 30 days of employment and maintain current thereafter.
  • Complete a TB test and Health Screen as well as Livescan for specific Departments.
