Kinship Center, a member of Seneca Family of Agencies, is seeking an Adoptions Social Worker to provide a range of services including the recruitment, screening, assessment, counseling and therapeutic support of foster / adoptive families. This individual must also be able to do public speaking, community education, community resource development and represent the agency.

Location:

  • San Bernardino County (Redlands)

Job Duties:

  • Provide adoption services, including conducting family assessments, providing group counseling, support and education, placing children with families, facilitating relationships with birth families, and performing post-placement services.
  • Assess, train, certify and supervise foster homes for children with treatment needs, including children with special medical needs. Provide ongoing support services, counseling and education.
  • Evaluate development, behavior and progress of children within the Foster Care program, with appropriate referral for medical, psychological and other support services. Participate in permanency planning or concurrent planning as appropriate.
  • Maintain liaison with other professionals and community agencies involved with the child and family.
  • Conduct ongoing intensive efforts in order to recruit adoptive and foster families especially for children who are identified as medically fragile and / or developmentally delayed, including creating public awareness, arranging community events, networking, public speaking and media presentations, conducting informational meetings, and working with volunteers and interns.
  • Ensure that records are kept and documentation is complete on all case records and ensure compliance with State regulations in case management of documentation and case records.
  • Develop and deliver educational training materials to prepare foster and adoptive families.
  • Lead training, support and special topic groups as needed. Offer community education and training as requested.
  • Represent Kinship Center in the community and build good community relationships with other agencies and individuals.

Job Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work/Psychology/Counseling, Social Work preferred
  • Registered or licensed with the California BBS a plus!
  • Bilingual Spanish/English abilities a plus!
  • A minimum of one year experience working in adoptions, foster care, counseling with children and families or child welfare services with an emphasis in working with children with moderate to extreme medical needs.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication, computer, and writing skills
  • Ability to manage crises and respond appropriately
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license and a good driving record and current automobile insurance

Hours:

  • Full time
  • Flexible schedule required, with the ability to work some evenings and weekend
