WestCoast Children’s Clinic is seeking skilled, Bilingual Clinicians for the Transition Age Youth Services Program (TAYS) who are passionate about improving the lives of underserved adolescents. The Clinicians provide community-based, intensive strategies to address any current need for stabilization, crisis intervention and trauma-focused treatment. 

Program and Position Overview:

C-Change, Transforming the Lives of Sexually Exploited Minors provides mental health screening, advocacy, and trauma-informed psychotherapy and clinical case management to sexually exploited youth and their families. C-Change provides a safe and supportive environment for youth to explore alternatives to street life. This is an exciting, groundbreaking program developing best practices in working with exploited youth.

Catch-21 provides intensive mental health services to youth with serious mental illness with the focus on stabilization, reducing mental health symptoms and connecting youth with the services that they will need to successfully transition to adulthood.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide mental health screening to assess cognitive, emotional and social functioning and needs; facilitates the identification and engagement in mental health services.
  • Provide intensive mental health, clinical case management, and wrap-around service development for youth emancipating from therapeutic placements.
  • Provide crisis intervention and stabilization.
  • Collaborate with partnering staff to develop and provide trainings to other mental health providers on best practices in working with sexually exploited youth.
  • Assist youth in developing and executing their transition to adulthood plan.
  • Coordinate services with other agencies and resources to address youth’s needs including: housing, medical/physical health, mental health, education, employment, independent living skills, advocacy, placement stability, and age-appropriate enrichment activities.
  • Make collateral contacts on behalf of clients as needed including Child Welfare Workers, Juvenile Justice personnel, parents and caregivers, and other providers.
  • Assist youth in accessing and utilizing community resources.
  • Understand and comply with policies, procedures, documentation and paperwork for EPSDT Medi-Cal billing, meet billing requirements as set by the agency.
  • Comply with WestCoast and California state Boards’ requirements pertaining to supervision, consultation and case conference attendance.
  • Provide services in the community, for which travel by car is necessary.
  • Participate in agency and program meetings and professional development trainings as required.
  • Work proactively with the program director to ensure the strength of the program.

Ideal Candidates Have:

  • Bilingual Spanish language skills (required).
  • MA or doctoral degree in clinical psychology, social work or related field required. Current CA Board of Behavioral Science or Board of Psychology license and/or registration.
  • Direct clinical experience working with transition age and high-risk youth.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience with foster care, DCFS, and community mental health.
  • California License Preferred (LCSW, LMFT, Licensed Psychologist). Based on our funding sources, California Department of Mental Health requires all unlicensed psychologists to apply for a professional licensing waiver or show proof of a valid waiver prior to hire date.
  • Proven effectiveness working with clients who have complex traumatic histories and attachment difficulties; experience in working with diverse communities.
  • Commitment to completing high quality and timely documentation, meeting agency deadlines, knowledge of Medi-Cal procedures and billing.
  • Ability to operate independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills: written and verbal.

Position Details and Compensation:

This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to our TAYS Program Director. Salary range is $52,000 – $63,000/year, based on experience and licensure type. Includes competitive compensation and benefits package, 403(b) and incentive compensation plans.
