Job Summary:
Responsible to the Clinical Supervisor of School Based Services and to provide mental health and case management services to a caseload of identified students at an assigned school site.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Services: 1) Provides scheduled individual and family therapy, both at the school site and in the home as appropriate; 2) provides group therapy and targeted/thematic groups as appropriate (i.e. girls’ groups, art therapy groups, etc.); 3) provides crisis intervention and follow-up as needed; 4) in coordination with supervisor, evaluates need, and carries out plan, for emergency hospitalization or police intervention, if needed; 4) consults with school teacher, school psychologist, student services coordinator, and others to provide continuity of services between mental health and educational resources and objectives; 5) provides leadership in transition of clients into the program and discharge of clients from the program in partnership with other school personnel and community resources; 6) provides mental health rehabilitation outings in the community to aid in the development of targeted social and leisure skills as needed.
Case Management: 1) Assesses needs, locates and arranges for appropriate referrals of clients as needed; 2) participates in Individual Education Plans, as well as other school meetings; 3) encourages and supports family participation in school meetings as appropriate.
Program Development: 1) provides program information and outreach to school personnel, students, parents and others in the community as needed; 2) maintains connection with school personnel and participates in school-wide activities as needed;
3) collaborates and maintains collateral contacts with school and community resources, including school personnel, county, court, and probation officers, in addition to parents and significant others; 4) keeps key collaborators (as described above) informed and facilitates on-going communication.
Training: 1) Provides clinical leadership and consultation to assigned school team; 2) promotes team-building and problem-solving; 2) participates in staff and team meetings, trainings and in-service meetings, scheduled Utilization Review meetings and other meetings as assigned.
Documentation: 1) Prepares initial and on-going treatment plans; 2) monitors treatment plan implementation and revision of treatment goals and interventions; 3) ensures that all paperwork and charting requirements reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner; 4) supports integrity of service contract by monitoring eligibility requirements of referred students to the program.
Other Duties: 1) Participates in providing back-up coverage in the absence of other program Mental Health Therapists if needed; 2) performs other duties as assigned; 3) May drive on Agency business as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
MSW or MA in Counseling from an accredited college or university.
Registered intern or associate with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
License preferred.
At least one year post-graduate school or milieu experience preferred.
Bilingual Spanish-speaking REQUIRED.
