PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

The Growing Up Strong (GUS) Program provides mental health services to children, youth and their families. Referrals come from families, Family Support Services’ programs, other agencies and Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and ongoing mental health services to children, youth and families.
  • Conduct mental health assessment to determine child’s and youth’s eligibility for program.
  • Assess children’s and families’ needs and provide appropriate clinical intervention.
  • Provide ongoing mental health services (e.g., treatment planning, individual therapy, play therapy, dyadic therapy, family therapy, and collateral contacts).
  • Provide home-based services, as needed.
  • Complete Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) tools for children and youth.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation.
  • Bill for all eligible services in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain all necessary requirements for professional licensing.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in mental health, social work or related field.
  • Licensed as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Psychologist or registered as an MFT or MSW intern.
  • Demonstrated competency as a social work practitioner or clinician.
  • Training and experience in providing assessment, diagnosis and therapy to young children and their parents preferred.
  • Experience and willingness to provide home-based services in diverse communities.
  • Excellent organizational, written, computer, and verbal skills.
  • Must be mature, tolerant of others, friendly, understanding and sensitive to family’s needs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft computer applications.
  • Respect for and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Requires valid California driver’s license, a clear DMV record, current automobile registration and an insured automobile in good working condition.
  • Must be physically able to perform all job responsibilities, which may include duties such as sitting, bending, kneeling or lifting minimum 25lbs.
  • Must be able to receive clearance through a fingerprint/background check (criminal and child abuse).

HOURLY PAY: $30/hour for direct service time, travel time, and documentation time. Approximately 10-18 hours/week.

Mental Health Crisis Therapist

Responsibilities/Description: Screen initial client phone inquiries. Conduct and complete intakes for services. Provide in-person assessments and determine appropriateness for inpatient hospitalization versus crisis stabilization. Provide crisis stabilization to youngsters as needed.
