The Cognitive Behavior Therapy Center of Silicon Valley is expanding in Los Gatos. We are seeking dynamic and enthusiastic licensed therapists and/or registered interns to join our CBT Center. You should have a demonstrated passion for CBT and a strong interest in learning how to practice adherent, evidence-based CBT for anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorders. The ideal candidate will have some training and experience with evidence-based therapies such as CBT, ACT and/or DBT and a strong desire to learn and grow.

About the Cognitive Behavior Therapy Center:

The Cognitive Behavior Therapy Center of Silicon Valley specializes in evidence-based therapy for adults, children and teens with anxiety disorders, OCD and obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders and related issues. We currently employ licensed therapists, interns and an administrative assistant in our Silicon Valley and Sacramento Valley offices, and three of our licensed therapists are certified by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy.

We are a busy, growing practice with a steady flow of referrals, providing therapists with the opportunity to maintain a full caseload over time. The average client is seeking CBT-oriented therapy for a specific problem and is motivated to get better. Our therapists share the common values of compassion and caring for our clients with a strong desire to help our clients make positive changes in their lives. Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group therapy with a practical, goal-oriented, collaborative focus to help clients make positive changes in their lives.
  • Conduct assessment sessions to evaluate and conceptualize client problems, obtain a diagnosis and develop treatment goals and plans.
  • Establish and maintain rapport and a strong therapeutic alliance while motivating clients to be actively engaged in therapy and to complete homework assignments.
  • Provide case management services (such as coordination of care and consultation with family members, schools, doctors and other providers).
  • Maintain psychotherapy notes, treatment plans and case records consistent with ethical and legal standards of care.
  • Track therapy results using brief surveys and other empirically-valid measurement tools.
  • Keep up-to-date on the research, evidence-based treatments and best practices for the problems treated at the CBT Center.
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly supervision and monthly training meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform other tasks as needed in order to deliver a high quality of client care and services.
  • Perform other tasks as needed to further the mission of the CBT Center.

Qualifications:

  • Some training and experience in evidence-based cognitive and behavioral therapies for anxiety disorders (social anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic disorder and agoraphobia, selective mutism and others) and obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders (the many varieties of OCD, tic disorders/Tourette Syndrome, hypochondriasis/health anxiety, body dysmorphic disorder and others).
  • Some training and experience with exposure therapies. Training and experience with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is especially desirable.
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of case conceptualization from a cognitive-behavioral perspective.
  • Experience, training and interest in working with adults, children, teenagers and families. Must be experienced and willing to work with all age groups.
  • Experience and training in a variety of empirically supported cognitive-behavioral orientations. However, it is critical that you know how to conceptualize cases from a broad cognitive-behavioral framework before choosing the treatment approach.
  • Licensed Psychotherapists in good standing with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) including Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists (LMFT/MFT), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LSCW) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC). Registered Interns include Associate Marriage and Family Therapists (AMFT) and Associate Professional Clinical Counselors.
  • Able to work afternoons and evenings. Saturdays would be a plus.

Compensation:

The job will start as part-time with the opportunity to increase your hours based on performance and the growth of the CBT Center. Therapists are compensated on an hourly basis for all hours worked at the CBT Center including client sessions, administrative work, case management, staff meetings, required training meetings and special tasks/projects (as needed). Hours will vary from week to week especially in the beginning. For successful therapists, there is the opportunity for this to evolve into a full time job over time.

Benefits:

The CBT Center will provide you with client referrals and marketing; telephone screenings of potential new clients and initial appointment scheduling; furnished office and waiting room, office computer, telephone, wifi access in the office, clinical forms and materials, office supplies and other overhead materials and supplies; credit card processing fees; training, supervision and consultation in CBT and evidence-based practices to provide therapy consistent with the Center’s mission; other tools needed to provide excellent clinical care to our clients; and a supportive, “drama-free,” and team-oriented work environment.

The CBT Center will pay for the employer-paid portion of social security taxes, medicare taxes, unemployment insurance/taxes, disability insurance, employee training tax, worker’s compensation insurance and malpractice insurance.

The CBT Center promotes an environment of learning and growth and offers unique training opportunities. Based on hours worked, therapists are eligible for a variety of benefits after their first year including participation in the CBT Center’s 401(k) program with company matching, a generous training budget for external training activities, a bonus program, paid sick leave to be used at your discretion and other benefits. Interns may be eligible for some benefits after their first year. Interns will receive paid supervision to cover all client hours obtained.
