SOS Community Counseling is a training facility for Therapists Associates and Trainees that offers mental health services to our community through collaboration with the schools, the justice system, and through our community counseling clinics.
Through our various programs new therapists have opportunities to work with different populations, diagnoses, and styles of therapy. SOS programs range from prevention and screening, to short-term stabilization and crisis response, to long-term, in-depth therapy. Our staff receive training and supervision from a team of clinical supervisors and are encouraged to participate in the agency as leaders. Our staff develop into competent, leadership capable therapists who enter into our community’s workforce with competitive skills and experience.
The Mobile Support Team (MST) is Hiring! MSTis a unique, cutting edge program that provides crisis intervention services throughout Sonoma County. The Intern Program for the Mobile Support Team provides training for postgraduate SOS Associates (SOS Interns) in the provision of emergency behavioral health services and consultation in the clinic setting and in the field. SOS Interns receive on the job training in crisis assessment and intervention.
The Mobile Support Team is staffed by both Sonoma County Behavioral Health (SCBH)
licensed and certified staff and SOS Interns. All MST staff respond to law enforcement requests to intervene in the field in a wide variety of cases such as public inebriation, disorderly behavior, homelessness, suicide attempts, 5150 evaluations, victims of crime, domestic disputes and psychiatric emergencies of the homeless, youth, elderly, or disabled. In addition to MST shifts, SOS Interns provide brief follow-up contact and support to ensure clients and their families mitigate future crisis and are connected to ongoing community supports.
SOS Interns will receive trainings from both SCBH and SOS to support their competence on the MST team and developing their clinical skills as they pursue licensure. SOS provides clinical supervision to post graduate SOS Interns integrating practical tools that focus on psychotherapy and psycho-educational intervention.
