Summary

Under the direction of Clinical Manager Clinical Therapist I will implement clinical services for “high-risk” youth, adults, and families under the DMH contract, Full Service Partnership Programs, and Intensive services department. Referrals will be received though the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, school sites and outside resources. Clinical Therapist I will provide group, individual, and family psychotherapy. Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required

Essential Functions

  • Provide psychiatric assessments to at-risk youth and adults within homes, at schools, and in the community
  • Provide individual, group therapy and case management services to at-risk youth and adults within homes. at schools, and in the community
  • Participate in the inter-disciplinary clinical team with OTRs and COTAs in the development of individual treatment plans, goals and discharge plans for the clients
  • Collaborate with family, teachers, probation officers, care givers in the community as part of the treatment team
  • Complete all documentation within the standards of the Department of Mental Health in a timely manner
  • Attend all monthly staff meetings
  • Participate in the crisis line phone rotation.
  • Work on other appropriate tasks as assigned by the supervisor
  • Driving is a required aspect of the job (for example: must drive to multiple field sites)
  • Regular attendance required
  • Other duties, as needed

Secondary Functions

  • Ability to perform duties on some weekday evenings when required
  • Overtime, holiday, or weekend work may be required
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Minimum Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT Intern) / Masters Degree in Social Work/ Masters Degree in Psychology
  • Currently registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences
  • Demonstrated ability to work with at-risk population
  • Knowledge and ability to work with at–risk population
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Valid California driver’s license, DMV check, reliable vehicle and proof of current automobile insurance required.
  • Employment contingent on passing a Background Check
  • Verification of employment eligibility

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

  • No supervisory responsibility

Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions)

The environment for this position is an office environment as well as working within at-risk areas including home, field and school based services. Driving is required when in the field, own transportation is required.

Physical Requirements

In the course of performing this job, there will be driving, walking and sitting required.

The incumbent in this position must be able to accommodate to all of the following: constant distractions, interruptions; uncontrollable changes in priorities/work schedules; must be able to think, conceptualize, and handle stress.
