SCHOOL-BASED COUNSELOR

Seeds of Awareness, Inc. (“Seeds”) is accepting applications for the School-based Counselor position.

JOB SUMMARY: This is a Counselor position for our school-based program. The Counselor will be primarily supporting school sites by providing individual and group counseling. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about counseling young people in primary education, maintains a mindfulness practice, and recognizes a culturally-responsive, trauma-informed understanding of marginalized communities. This is an hourly position of 10-12 paid hours or at a Marin school site, plus provided supervision and training. We are also hiring for positions in the East Bay and in San Francisco.

COVID-19 considerations:
At present our partner schools are operating from remote schooling. Applicants should be comfortable performing Telehealth and open to eventually providing in-person services as schools reopen.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:
Trainee or Registered Associate in good-standing with BBS towards licensure as MFT, LPCC, LCSW, Psy.D or Licensed Clinician (Graduate level education required)
Clinical experience in school-based settings with children, teens and family systems
Familiarity with IEPs (Individualized Education Plan) is a PLUS
Experience working with young people and/or families with neurodivergence and special needs
Familiarity/interest in mindfulness-based clinical approaches and theory
Understanding of social and emotional learning methodologies
Native bilingual fluency in Spanish is a PLUS
Familiarity and experience with Medi-Cal is PLUS
Familiarity with technology (G-Drive, Electronic Health Records, etc)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Genuine interest in and connections to diverse communities
Strong sense of motivation, self-responsibility and passion for Seeds mission and services
Commitment to self-care and vision for personal and professional growth with Seeds

Summary of General Responsibilities
Provide individual counseling, facilitate social skills group and support administrative duties
Maintain timely clinical documentation for each client
Attend training 4 times per month and supervision every week at one respective training location or via zoom.
Group Supervision: 9:15am-11:15am
Lunch: 11:15am-12:00pm
Training: 12:00pm-2:30pm
Time Commitment
2.5 hours weekly training/meetings on Tuesdays in Oakland or Petaluma or via zoom
2 hours weekly group supervision on Tuesdays in Oakland or Petaluma or via zoom
1 hour weekly individual supervision
10-20 hours on-site at school placement dependent on pandemic safety.
Up to 2 hours weekly for BBS clinical documentation
Commitment to remain in the school program from SEPT 2020 to JUNE 2021

Compensation
Trainees are Volunteers
Stipend based on an hourly rate of $18-$20 per hour for Associates based on experience.
Additional hourly compensation available for bilingual fluency in Spanish
