Step Up on Second, a nationally recognized non-profit community mental health agency, has clinical opportunities in Santa Monica for BBS registered, license-eligible MSW, MFT (SERVICE COORDINATOR II) and BA level professionals (SERVICE COORDINATOR I).
- Our focal populations are Adults and Transition Aged Youth over 18, experiencing serious mental illness or co-occurring disorders or homelessness.
- Their needs range from intensive to moderate and may require prolonged outreach and engagement, mental health, co-occurring health and substance or supportive housing services.
- Step Up is a DMH provider of Medi-Cal services and uses evidenced based practices, psychosocial rehabilitation, and a wellness and recovery models of treatment.
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- The ideal candidates will have knowledge and experience providing direct services to individuals who experience a mental health diagnosis, homelessness or permanent supported housing, or co-occurring mental health and substance disorders.
- Candidates must demonstrate an ability to create appropriate therapeutic relationships with individuals and then provide specific treatment services within scope of practice. Services include clinical assessments, treatment planning, application for and acquiring mainstream benefits and/or securing appropriate housing, ensuring housing stability via home visits, individual and group therapy, linkage to medication support, vocational and educational opportunities, and reduction of substance use and abuse leading to full recovery.
- Program offices are located in Santa Monica, however services are also provided in Service Area 5 at client’s place of residence or other field based settings. This may require use of staff’s own vehicle or ability to drive company vehicles. The candidate should own a vehicle; have a clean driving record and current California driver’s license and insurance. Agency will reimburse for mileage and parking.
- The SERVICE COORDINATOR II will demonstrate strong recovery and trauma informed clinical, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills.
- The SERVICE COORDINATOR I will demonstrate knowledge of mainstream benefits, motivational interviewing, recovery and life skills support.
- Candidates must have strong charting and writing skills or the ability to learn with training. DMH paperwork experience preferred. Interview will ask for a demonstration of these skills.
