Position: Counselor I

Salary Range: DOE

Summary of Duties: Provide individual, group and/or family therapy to clients and/or family. Provide clinical assessment, field-based and outreach services to clients and their families; case management and advocacy services. Example of Duties: Conduct strengths-based, family-centered, culturally competent therapeutic services, consisting of individual, family and group therapy as well as individualized intakes and/or other assessments in the office or in the field as appropriate. Assess and monitor client and/or family progress; evaluate outcomes and collaborate to adjust course of treatment as appropriate. Communicate and collaborate services with Department of Children and Family services and other members of the Multi-disciplinary team. Provide services in the community or in the field consistent with program and funding source contractual requirements. Maintain a client file to level of requirements mandated in agency policy and completes documentation in a timely manner. Display sensitivity to the cultural and linguistic needs of the clients and families served. Interact well with other internal programs, clinical/support staff and with external sources such as school or community personnel as applicable. Meet Agency requirements regarding billing for reimbursable services; consistently provide services in keeping with all programmatic and contractual requirements. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings to provide input towards program development and staff training.

Qualifications: Masters or Doctorate Degree in Marriage and Fami ly Therapy, Social Work, or Psychology. Must be licensed-eligible, i.e., board-registered MFT-Intern, ASW, MSW, OR Licensed professional: LMFT, LCSW, or Licensed Psychologist. Knowledge of principles and techniques of social, cultural, and intergenerational dynamics of Chinese/Asian immigrants and refugees. Ability to communicate effectively and develop relationships with children, youth, and families. Bilingual/bicultural English and Chinese strongly preferred (Cantonese and/or Mandarin). Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Must possess a valid California drivers license and maintain an insurable driving record. Available to work some evenings and weekends as needed. Ability to pass health, fingerprint, and DMV clearance.
