The STEPS Intensive Day Treatment Program is a fully integrated mental health day treatment program providing day services that are intensive to sexually abusive adolescents between 12 to 18 years of age. The STEPS Program is an integrated system of care designed to provide a nurturing environment within a structured setting; the goal of which is to reintegrate the students into a less structured and less restrictive educational setting in an appropriate school district classroom or other educational setting as set forth by the IEP.
The Licensed or Licensed Eligible Mental Health Therapist is responsible for delivery of a full range of clinically related services including direct counseling and therapy, crisis intervention, rehabilitation and collateral services. The Licensed or Licensed Eligible Mental Health Therapist carries a client caseload as assigned by the Program Manager.
-Initiates appropriate and timely interventions.
-Integrates clinical concepts with sound theoretical and practical applications of rehabilitative and individual group and milieu counseling principles.
-Interacts therapeutically with clients, maintaining distinction between therapeutic and social relationships.
-Provides input to other treatment team members to develop and improve program services and delivery and individual client services.
-Maintains a clinical caseload as prescribed by the Program Manager and supervised by the Clinical Coordinator. Provides a variety of interventions including individual and group therapy and case-management services to each client.
-Provides symptom management skills and information and the leadership necessary to provide clients with the ability to maintain the least restrictive care and the highest level of functioning
-Maintains timely, accurate and legible documentation using assigned forms and formats for each client in their caseload.
-Responsible for medical record documentation per contract and Medi-Cal and Medi-Care requirements.
-Assists other staff, particularly non-Licensed or Licensed Eligible staff, in dealing with problematic client behavior.
-Facilitates assigned groups in a timely manner,
-When necessary, willingly filling-in for colleagues given little or no notice.
-Supports participation by all clients in the milieu.
-Sets regular goals with program participants.
-Assures clients are informed of inappropriate behavior.
-Acts as a role model.
-Encourages team building, feedback and problem-solving in participants.
-Consults with attending psychiatrist regarding medication and treatment of clients.
-Consults with other treatment providers such as conservator, case manager, and board & care operators.
-Designates new target goals for clients consistent with overall treatment goals.
-Attends treatment meetings and provides input to treatment plan.
– Assesses and recognizes behavior or changes in mood that indicate suicidal or homicidal intent or plan, and immediately reports any concerns to Program Manager.
-Assists clients in reaching their vocational goals.
-Provide clinical or administrative supervision to other staff, volunteers or interns.
-Schedules daily activities and recreational activities and short-term special groups (e.g., arts and crafts, cooking)
-Provides appropriate input to monthly and quarterly Treatment Team reviews and plans for client transfer when appropriate in support of program goals. Assures continuity of care by making appropriate recommendations.
-Displays regular and reliable attendance. Reports to and departs from work on time, as scheduled, and accurately reflects all time on time card.
-Successfully functions as a team member.
Education and experience:
Minimum of a Masters Degree in Social Work or related field. California License as an MFT, LCSW, Psychologist, or license eligible within one year.
-At least two years mental health experience working with children and adolescents, including clinical experience on a cross disciplinary team.
-Bilingual preferred
