Destinations to Recovery is a premiere Dual Diagnosis and Primary Mental Health treatment center serving teens ages 13-17 years old affected by co-occurring substance abuse and/or mental health disorders. With our holistic approach to treatment, we provide residential and outpatient facilities with significant family involvement, experiential therapy (equine, surf, expressive art, yoga, etc.), nutrition education, and training for the connection of mind, body and spirit. Our two residential facilities are located in Topanga Canyon, CA and our four outpatient facilities are in Ventura, Mid-Wilshire, Woodland Hills, CA and Henderson, NV. Destinations to Recovery is seeking a self-motivated FT and PT Counselor who is passionate about the work we do and desires to grow with the company. This position contributes to the wellbeing of all clients by serving as a positive role model and demonstrating a professional and caring manner toward co-workers, clients, parents and guests. The position directly supports the Program Director.

Duties and Requirements:
Counselors are expected to work as a team to supervise client behavior and ensure safety at all times.
Must possess extremely strong follow-up skills and administrative abilities with experience in project management and organization.
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to be able to give directions to clients in a clear, concise and informative manner and provide accurate documentation before the end of each shift.
Should be able to educate each client to the stage and point system as well as the disciplinary process.
Should be able to effectively communicate with the treatment team when needed, and may dispense medications when indicated.
Expected to run weekly groups for clients, depending on licensure or level of clinical experience. Counselors may be expected to find alternative activities for clients when scheduled groups are cancelled, and should create group notes for all groups in BestNotes.
Must be familiar with the philosophy, mission, goals and objectives of the Destinations to Recovery PHP / IOP Treatment Program.
Must possess a strong ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects with different due dates and timelines.
Must have the ability to work AM or PM and weekend shifts.
Able to maintain clear boundaries with clients and staff.
Any additional duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Basic Education Experience Required :
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
MFTI preferred
