POSITION:
Mental Health Specialist
SALARY/BENEFITS:
$42,286.40 – $47,569.60 per year minimum to start
This position also offers an additional salary for licensure.

OVERVIEW:
The Mental Health Specialist (MHS) provides an array of mental health services to children, young adults and families in any of the Sacramento Children’s Home mental health programs. The MHS shall fulfill the role of a Therapist, Community Mental Health Worker, Family Facilitator, Family Specialist and Cottage Facilitator as needed to implement client services per the client plan.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide services to client and family as needed to support attainment of treatment goals. Services shall be commensurate with level of need and, when necessary, consultation and referral for additional services.
Assess for, and provide services, when possible, consistent with established evidence-based or best-practices focused on identifiable needs areas.
Participate as a member of applicable treatment team including, but not limited to, Team Decision Making (TDM), Child and Family Team (CFT), Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), Student Study Team (SST), etc.
Assess, determine and make a referral when special services or care are needed for a child (i.e. medication evaluation, psychiatric hospitalization, psychological testing, etc.).
Ensure appropriate communication with both internal and external sources regarding client’s progress and salient issues regarding care.
Write daily progress notes for each service (billable and non-billable) delivered within the timelines noted in the SCH documentation policy.
Complete appropriate County mental health paperwork, including but not limited to, Core Assessments, Client Plans, and CHQ within the timelines required by the county.
Attend weekly supervision meetings with clinical supervisor if unlicensed, to comply with California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) licensing requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master’s Degree in a Behavioral Science and licensed (or registered) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an LCSW (ACSW) or MFT (MFTI).
At least one year of direct experience working with seriously emotionally disturbed children, adolescents and their families is required. This experience shall include engaging parents and working successfully with families from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Trainees will only be considered if field placement is completed at SCH.
Must meet the requirements of the SCH Driving Qualifications policy.
