Clinica Sierra Vista currently operates 28 comprehensive primary care community health centers in the rural and urban areas of Kern, Fresno, and Inyo Counties, located in California, encompassing several thousand square miles of farm land, desert, and mountain areas. Community health centers provide comprehensive primary and preventative health care, including medical, dental and behavioral health services, in areas where access to health care has historically been inadequate. Additionally, we operate multiple health education, prevention and case management programs providing a comprehensive array of health and human services. We serve primarily the low-income and uninsured population, including migrant farm workers, the homeless, and other special populations.

Job Summary:

Licensed LCSW or LMFT or BBS registered as an MFT- Intern or ASW, bilingual preferred, culturally competent to serve children and families in Bakersfield children’s Behavioral Health Center.  Optimal candidate will possess strong written and oral language skills, and enjoy working in a high need, evidenced based practice for underserved children and families. Supervised BBS hours and evidenced based practice training provided.  Full-time, Monday – Friday.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provides individual, group and family psychotherapy services as allowed within the employee’s scope of practice and the recovery model guidance for best practices at the service site.
  2. Screens adults and/or children for the appropriateness of treatment; conducts biopsychosocial assessments and diagnoses mental health and co-occurring disorders.
  3. Assists in the coordinating of activities for the Case Managers.
  4. Maintains communication with other local service agencies for patient referral as needed. Develops network of community resources and maintain liaison with these resources.
  5. Assist in the provision of in-services and consultation to the interdisciplinary team of health professionals on the staff.
  6. Responsible for conducting client assessment as assigned.
  7. Responsible for conducting and/or assisting in the development of the client’s Plan of Care.
  8. Keeps accurate, up-to-date records on clients served, including progress notes, transfer and discharge plans, annual reviews, and all client contacts.
  9. Participates in utilization review activities.
  10. Utilizes a personal computer and various software programs.
  11. Prepares and delivers oral presentations to the public on CSV Behavioral Health and its programs.
  12. Serves as a liaison with community agencies and schools.
  13. Will be scheduled to be on-call for specific weeks (subject to available dates).
  14. Be available to translate for specific sessions, if qualified.
  15. Able to work specific weekend shifts (usually Saturdays from 9:00 – 1:00).
  16. Must have a current/valid California Drivers License and proof of insurance.
  17. May be assigned to work at a satellite clinic/site on a scheduled, temporary basis.

Qualifications:

Completion of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in Psychology, Marriage and Family Counseling Social Work or a related field.

AND

Licensure with the State of California as a Clinical Social Worker or as a Marriage and Family Therapist.
