This is a clinical position working with children and youth in the residential program.
Pay scale: $48,000-$54,000
Work Schedule: Full time, Monday-Friday

SUMMARY

To provide a safe and favorable therapeutic climate for each client in the children’s residential. The therapist is responsible for providing students and their families with an array of therapeutic services, working in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary teams at the Center and school. In addition to individual, group, and family therapy, they provide case management, ongoing collaboration with outside professionals, and discharge planning for the students/families on their caseload. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Accepts screened intake assignments and completes intake assessment (mental health assessment) and general orientation of student and family to program and Center functions.
  • Facilitates wide array of therapeutic interventions within; individual therapy, family therapy, counseling groups, and conjoint modalities.
  • In-home therapy services and assessments may be indicated with some assigned cases.
  • Functions as the primary individual therapist and family therapist for all assigned cases.
  • Provides weekly individual and family sessions, as clinically indicated and/or required on the students IEP.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation as per SDCC and NCA requirements.
  • Maintain communication with program director/program psychologist, clinical supervisor and school case managers regarding the treatment progress of assigned cases and discharges.
  • Communicate with lead counselors and support staff regularly to provide guidance on individualized interventions and how to assist clients on making progress toward their goals.
  • Maintain assigned radio by charging daily; switch to off position when charging. Be available to support staff by radio when not in session.
  • Formulates, monitors, and revises treatment, which addresses specific short term and long term goals, for the student and family based on assessments and input from the client, family and IEP team. Coordinates and ensures the implementation of the treatment plan as part of each student’s IEP.
  • Participates in staff meetings, Individualized Education Plan Meetings, and other meetings as assigned.
  • Collaborates with the school social worker to make referrals to other agencies and professionals as identified to meet the needs of the student and family during treatment and discharge planning.
  • Coordinates treatment efforts with outside resources including TAY resources, discharge placement, outside therapists, psychiatrists, Child Protective Services, community outreach programs, family advocacy programs, and others, as deemed appropriate.
  • Responsible for fostering a staff and peer culture which results in a therapeutic milieu.
  • Other duties as assigned by program manager.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Master’s degree from an accredited university
  • Licensed clinicians or license eligible in social work (LCSW) or psychology (Ph.D.), or marriage and family therapy (MFT) or Psych Assistant, PhD or PsyD
  • Training/experience in the area of latency and adolescent age students and families is desired as is the knowledge of basic case management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical training, leadership, and ability to work effectively in a therapeutic setting

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR)
  • Safe and Positive Approaches (SPA)
  • Standard First Aid
