Seeds of Awareness, Inc has an immediate need for a highly-qualified bilingual counselor for 12+ hours a week with a 2+ day schedule to be determined. This counselor would be a part of a team providing Mindfulness Social-Emotional Learning and brief counseling services at two separate East Bay private school locations in the Oakland/Berkeley Area (Elementary/Middle-school-aged).
Our ideal candidate has experience in education and/or working with children of various ages (we serve children K-12). Has a regular mindfulness practice. Has an interest and experience working therapeutically with children. Is passionate about raising the awareness of our communities, and comfortable exploring areas of diversity, privilege and race.
Requirements:
-Spanish fluency is a must, preferably native Spanish speaker
-MFT Intern, LMFT, ASW or LCSW
-Ability to travel to two school sites and Tuesday trainings
-Experience with working with children/youth
-Mindfulness experience
-TB Testing
-Live Scan fingerprint background check clearance
The Practicum/ Internship comprises of:
1. Weekly Trainings and Group Supervision | Every Tuesday 10a-3:30p | Alternating Location
· In Oakland 1st and 3rd Tues | In Petaluma 2nd and 4th Tues
· Learn our Mindfulness Curriculum in an experiential and didactic learning community
· Mindfulness-based (ACT) group supervision
· Monthly Gestalt group process exploring interpersonal dynamics, diversity, etc
· Participate in professional development workshops and outside trainings.
2. Weekly Individual and Group Supervision with Seeds supervisors
– Group Supervision is Friday 10a-12p
Pay is $20-25 based on credentials and experience for hours at the school-site only.
*Tuesday trainings & Supervision required and included but unpaid.*

Seeds of Awareness Inc. is a Bay Area non-profit organization that facilitates mindfulness and evidence-based social and emotional support programs, including individual counseling, group counseling and social emotional learning instruction. Our mission is to transform schools and communities by cultivating empathy, connection, and awareness.
Our counselors will be responsible for providing individual child therapy, small social skills groups and facilitating classroom groups in our unique mindfulness-based socio-emotional learning curriculum (MBSEL).
Seeds counselors are supported to develop unique skills to work with children and family systems with a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive approach rooted in mindfulness. We strive to provide a holistic, dynamic practicum/internship placement that is supportive, community-driven and socially engaged.

Necessary Qualifications
· Pursuing licensure as MFT, LCSW, LPCC, or Psy D. in Counseling/Clinical Psychology
· Experience with children/teens highly recommended (professional or personal)
· Familiarity with Primary/Secondary Education and/or SEL is a plus
· A personal mindfulness practice (movement, sitting, music, etc) is a required for the year.
· Leadership and self-responsibility while working interdependently within schools.
· Comfortable with working with large classrooms of children (25-30 students)
· Organizational capacity to maintain regular communication with school admin, teachers, parents.
· Clinical timeliness: must be able to arrive to schools and trainings on-time.
· Must be able to use technology effectively (e-mails, Google drive, Box)
· Must consent to required tuberculosis test, background check and fingerprints (reimbursable)
