The STEPS Outpatient Program provides individual and family therapy to children and adolescents (ages 6 to 18) who have been sexually abusive toward others. The program takes a restorative rather than a punitive approach, and incorporates the belief that every youth in the program has the potential to gain insight and change. The Licensed or Licensed Eligible Mental Health Therapist is responsible for delivery of a full range of clinically related services including individual therapy, family therapy, case management, and collateral services. The Licensed or Licensed Eligible Mental Health Therapist carries a client caseload as assigned by the Program Manager.
-Initiates appropriate and timely interventions.
-Integrates clinical concepts with sound theoretical and practical applications of counseling principles.
-Interacts therapeutically with clients, maintaining distinction between therapeutic and social relationships.
-Maintains a clinical caseload as prescribed by the Program Manager
-Provides a variety of interventions including individual family therapy and case-management services to each client.
-Provides symptom management skills and information and the leadership necessary to provide clients with the ability to maintain the least restrictive care and the highest level of functioning
-Maintains timely, accurate and legible documentation using assigned forms and formats for each client in their caseload.
-Responsible for medical record documentation per contract and Medi-Cal and Medi-Care requirements.
-When necessary, willingly filling-in for colleagues given little or no notice.
-Sets regular goals with program participants.
-Assures clients are informed of inappropriate behavior.
-Acts as a role model.
-Consults with attending psychiatrist regarding medication and treatment of clients.
-Consults with other treatment providers such as conservator, case manager, and board & care operators.
-Designates new target goals for clients consistent with overall treatment goals.
– Assesses and recognizes behavior or changes in mood that indicate suicidal or homicidal intent or plan, and immediately reports any concerns to Program Manager.
-Assists clients in reaching their vocational goals.
-Provide clinical or administrative supervision to other staff, volunteers or interns.
-Assures continuity of care by making appropriate recommendations.
-Displays regular and reliable attendance. Reports to and departs from work on time, as scheduled, and accurately reflects all time on time card.
-Successfully functions as a team member.
-Minimum of a Masters Degree in Social Work or related field. California License as an MFT, LCSW, Psychologist, or license eligible within one year.
-At least two years mental health experience working with children and adolescents, including clinical experience on a cross disciplinary team.
-Bilingual preferred
