Responsible for:

Providing crisis intervention, intake assessment, and individual, family, and group psychotherapy to adults, children and families with a history of mental illness and/or substance issues to Field Clinical Capable Services (FCCS) clients in Spanish and English.
Assisting with evaluation and intake decision-making.

Primary Duties

Provides phone and in person (in the office and on the field up to 50% of the time) intake assessment, crisis intervention, short-term therapy and facilitates conflict resolution to children, adults, and families with a history of mental illness and/or substance abuse.
Assists with client evaluations and clinical diagnoses; formulate an initial plan of treatment; provides in-house program referral; and outside agency referral as appropriate.
Assesses and monitors condition of client to evaluate potential treatment and adapts interventions as needed.
Provides some case management to include referral and links to community support services, psychiatrist, medical care, housing, rehabilitation programs, drug/alcohol services and social activity groups.
Assist with determining 5150 holds for clients presenting a danger to themselves or others and are in need of hospitalization.
Interfaces and collaborates with clinic psychiatrist regarding assessment and intake.
Monitors and maintains documentation of client services; ensures compliance with Agency policies and procedures; county; and other related agencies’ standards and guidelines.
Develops and maintains therapist skills through seminars, workshops, or other forms of continuing education/training related to adults with a history or mental illness and/or substance abuse.
Attends and participates in program, Agency staff meetings; and related community agency meetings as required/requested.
Participates in Officer of the Day duties.

Qualifications

Able to provide services in Spanish and English.
A working knowledge of therapeutic intervention, assessment and intake for adults, children and families with a history of mental illness and/or substance abuse.  Depending on program/division, working knowledge of Evidence Based Practices, Co-Occurring Disorders and/or the Recovery Model of treatment is required.
Knowledge of Agency policies and procedures, HIPAA, Department of Mental Health, policies and documentation guidelines, and other state/federal regulations relating to service programs for adults with a history of mental illness and/or substance abuse.
Current knowledge of all job specific skills including crisis and individual/family therapy, documentation and multicultural and socio-economic issues.
Basic advocacy skills.
Skill to present ideas, information, and viewpoints clearly, both verbally and in writing in Spanish and English.
Personal computer skills including word processing.
Ability to use analysis, experience, and judgment to make effective business and therapeutic decisions.
Demonstrate commitment to team objectives and Didi Hirsch philosophies.
Adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
Ability and flexibility to work early mornings and late evenings.
Current California driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency’s insurance carrier.
These requirements are typically met by a combination of education and experience that typically includes a MSW, MFT, PCCI,  Psy.D, PhD, (unlicensed, California board registered) and one to two years’ experience working with individuals with a history of mental illness and/or substance abuse in a social service/mental health environment.

Candidates must be able to clear all criminal background checks in order to qualify for this position or be in possession of an exemption from the Department of Social Services.
