Responsibilities:

  • Serves in a leadership role within a Treatment Team in an effort to coordinate client care across systems and consistent with the Mental Health Recovery and Core Practice Models.
  • Provides individual, family and/or group therapy services to children, adolescents and families within our Residential, Wraparound and/or Community Mental Health programs.
  • Responsible for the delivery and coordination of community-based, strengths-based Mental Health Services to clients and families as defined by Haynes Family of Programs’ Policy and Procedure and Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health’s Short Doyle/Medi-Cal Organizational Provider’s Manual. Such services are inclusive of, but not limited to, conducting intake screenings, processing the steps for admission, performing full clinical client assessments, developing individualized treatment plans with clients and families, conducting individual, group and/or family therapy and/or rehabilitation services, and engaging family members/caregivers/identified support persons in regular collateral contacts/sessions.
  • Provides Evidenced-based Practice (EBPs) interventions.
  • Completes billing and documentation in accordance with Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) guidelines and Agency Policy and Procedures.
  • Is on-call for crisis intervention services and takes a primary role in initiating and coordinating the steps necessary to ensure client evaluations for hospitalization due to danger-to-self (DTS), danger-to-others (DTO) and/or being/becoming gravely disabled (GD).
  • Attends and leads Treatment Team Meetings, Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings, and coordinates care with parents, caregivers/legal representatives, Probation Officers, County Social Workers, other service providers, school personnel, and/or any inter and intra-agency personnel involved in the client’s care and treatment.
  • Provides training to staff on topics, factors and interventions relevant to the client’s care and treatment.
  • Master’s of Arts/Science (M.A./M.S.) Degree in Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work or Counseling required.
  • Active, current and clear registration/license with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Associate Social Worker (ASW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required.
  • Trained and certified in Evidenced-based Practices (EBP), particularly Seeking Safety, Managing and Adapting Practices (M.A.P.), Aggression Replacement Training (A.R.T.) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) preferred.
  • Experience working high-risk children, adolescents, adults and/or families within the Mental Health, Educational, Child Welfare and/or Juvenile Probation systems preferred.
  • Availability to be on-call for crisis related services required.
  • Must fulfill all requirements of employment, including clearance of all required background records (e.g. Department of Justice, Child Abuse, California Community Care Licensing, County Sanction List, etc.), professional reference checks, physical examination with TB test, and drug screening.
