Salary Range: Minimum: $46,169 Market point: $55,403. Family Resource Center (FRC) positions are funded through public grants and are often coordinated with other community partners. Continued funding for these grant positions are based on Human Options’ and our partners’ ability to secure additional funding at the end of each designated grant contract term.

Summary:

Reporting to the Therapeutic Program Supervisor or FRC Supervisor/Coordinator, provides individual, child, and family counseling, facilitates client education and support groups, and promotes domestic violence awareness through community presentations and outreach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide individual, child and family counseling to clients at the Center for Children & Families, Emergency Shelter and Family Resource Centers.
  • Plan and facilitate client education and support groups
  • Provide crisis intervention during non-business hours, as needed.
  • Complete bio-psychosocial assessments and develops comprehensive treatment plans with clients.
  • Maintains clinical documentation and complete service records.
  • Participates in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Meets productivity standards as defined by specific grants and other funding requirements and maintains monthly statistical data of attending group members and individual clients for grant reporting purposes.
  • Collect and input data into corresponding database as needed for Human Options and relative grant (i.e. ETO).
  • Deliver domestic violence awareness presentations to community groups and/or partners
  • Participate in weekly supervision meetings (clinical and administrative).
  • Report suspected child abuse or other safety issues, as required by law and agency policies.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Provide support for Human Options staff as needed.
  • Abide by professional confidentiality guidelines by only sharing client information within the organization when it meets the need of the client.
  • Demonstrate ability to abide by Human Options’ mission and values: Show dignity, respect, honesty, integrity, a commitment to excellence and maintain a supportive environment.
  • Remain in good standing with the BBS
  • Work evenings and weekends, as necessary to meet client and productivity needs
  • Act as a community ambassador for Human Options and domestic violence awareness
  • Other duties as assigned

Work environment is primarily in an office setting. Lift and carry up to 25 pounds up to waist length, extend both arms above the head and/or reach below the waist, stoop, squat, crawl, bend the back to open lower-level filing drawers, or to retrieve stored items. Sit and/or stand frequently. Use fine manipulation (hands and wrist) to operate a keyboard, take notes, complete and file reports, file and copy documents. Corrected vision to normal range. Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Considerable knowledge of techniques and principles of child and family development, family systems theory, crisis counseling intervention, individual, family, and group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and trauma response, child abuse and family violence, and trauma focused interventions.
  • Ability to assess emotional, social and environmental strengths and community resources.
  • Strong communication and counseling skills.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in behavioral science field & registration with the BBS.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English required.
  • One to two years of experience in counseling field.
  • Knowledge of the principles of domestic violence and crisis counseling.
  • Computer skills including word processing experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Satisfactorily complete post-hiring Domestic Violence 40 hour training.
  • Communicates effectively and sensitively with diverse populations.
  • Organizes assignments in order to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Ability to work some evenings and possible weekends.
