We are actively seeking qualified counselors who have experience with Medi-Cal to work in our East Bay partner schools. Counselors will be responsible for providing individual child therapy and facilitating small social skills groups.

Seeds counselors are supported to develop unique skills to work with children and family systems with a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive approach rooted in mindfulness. We strive to provide a holistic, dynamic internship placement that is supportive, community-driven and socially engaged.

Counselors who have displayed commitment and capacity with Seeds Schools, may be given additional opportunities in our other programs including Fiddleheads Nature-based social skills groups and our Family Counseling Center.

The Internship positions comprise of

  • Weekly Trainings every Tuesdays 10a-1p | Group Supervision 2-4p
  • Training locations alternate between Oakland and Petaluma
  • Experiential and didactic training in a collaborative community environment
  • Training approaches thru Mindfulness | Attachment | Gestalt | Exa | Somatics | Trauma
  • Individual/Group Supervision grounded in Mindfulness
  • Professional Development and Community Event opportunities

Necessary Qualifications

  • Masters or higher in Clinical Counseling Psychology
  • Registered with BBS as IMF, ASW, PCC, or Psych Asst in good standing
  • Experience with working with children and teens is a MUST
  • Familiarity with Medi-Cal Clinical Documentation standards and protocols
  • Familiarity with Primary/Secondary Education
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
  • A personal mindfulness practice (movement, sitting, music, etc) is a required for the year.
  • Leadership and self-responsibility while working interdependently within schools.
  • Organizational capacity to maintain regular communication and coordinate logistics
  • Professional timeliness with sessions, attendance and clinical documentation
  • Must be able to use technology effectively (e-mails, Google drive, clinical documentatl)
  • Must consent to required tuberculosis test, background check and fingerprints (reimbursable)
  • Ability to drive/commute to training locations and school site(s)

Job Type: Internship

Salary: $15.00 to $18.00 /hour
