The Youth and Family Services branch of the YMCA of San Diego County is CURRENTLY HIRING for three different positions working in transitional housing and providing guidance for youth and adults alike. Positions at all levels of responsibility are available and we’re looking for candidates who are passionate about working with youth, building their professional skills and working as a team.

Each position has different qualification regarding education and experience, so there is something for everyone. All positions require candidates to be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. Check the positions below to see what the best fit would be.

Mental Health Therapist II- Oceanside (Part Time)
Provide direct therapeutic services including assessments, individual, group and crisis counseling to current and past participants. Assist in program development and operation while ensuring eligibility and program outcomes.

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work (ASW) or Professional Counselor.
  • Registered with California Board of Behavioral Science as an intern required.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • California license eligible clinician with two years post-master’s degree experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with homeless youth and LGBTQ youth in a mental health setting preferred.

Coordinator II – Oceanside (Full Time)
Under the supervision of the Program Director, coordinate day-to-day operations of CAL OES Emergency Housing program. Provide supportive housing case management, outreach and engagement, assistance with housing placement and stabilization services. Assist in program development, operation and team decision making while supporting program outcomes. Coordinate offered services with Street Outreach and TAY Academy staff.

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Master’s degree in social science, psychology or a related field is highly preferred, Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development preferred.
  • Two years of experience providing direct service to victims of crime preferred.
  • Two years of experience working with high risk youth/street youth preferred.
  • One year of experience in housing subsidy programs preferred.

Support Specialist- Oceanside (Temporary)
Under the supervision of the Program Director, provide comprehensive trauma-informed services. Responsible for providing outreach, engagement, mentoring, positive youth development activities to CAL OES Emergency Housing program participants. Ensure that standards relating to safety and inclusivity are maintained. (This position is considered Part-Time, Temporary and will not exceed 3 months.)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • One year experience of working with LGBTQ youth and homeless youth preferred.
  • Two years of supervised experience with children and adolescents, including the documentation of services following a standard protocol preferred.
  • Must be willing to develop or possess working knowledge of trauma-informed care and dual diagnosis treatment.
