Child Abuse is a complex problem, but a preventable one. The organization has an annual operating budget of approximately $8 million and is supported by approximately 60 staff, interns, and more than 80 volunteers. Safe & Sound’s headquarters is located in a historic firehouse in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, with a second office in the Bayview neighborhood.

OVERALL SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing mental health services within our partnership with Good Samaritan Family Resource Center and is funded by SFCAPC’s Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) Medi-Cal contract. This position requires a flexible work schedule and may require working in the evening or on weekends. Target population will be children in newcomer families and unaccompanied minors recently emigrated to the US.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Client Services (Estimated 25 hours/week.)
o Provide school-based mental health and family support services, including assessment, psychotherapy, and/or facilitation of groups or workshops, with reimbursable Medi-Cal/EPSDT services as the priority. These school-based services are located primarily at Mission Education Center, as well as other schools and community locations as needed. In addition to individual psychotherapy with children, providing services to this target population necessarily includes family work and frequent collateral contacts with parents, educators, and other caregivers in multiple settings. In addition to meeting with children during the school day, home visiting and meetings with clients in other community settings will also be expected. Outreach to potential clients and their families will be necessary in order to build and maintain caseload. Caseload is expected range from 10-12 child clients. Respond to client crises as needed.
• Administrative (Estimated 15 hours/week.)
o Comply with all clinical documentation requirements of Medi-Cal/EPSDT contract.
o Attend monthly Departmental and All Center Staff meetings.
o Attend weekly clinical team meetings.
o Attend separate weekly supervision meetings with manager and clinical supervisor.
o Attend other meetings as requested by EPSDT Manager.
• Community Collaborations:
o Consult and collaborate effectively with CBO staff, educators, school leadership and other educational/community partners.
o Provide up to four hours per month of clinical consultation to other providers including Good Samaritan partnership as needed.
o Co-Facilitate monthly consultation group for support group facilitators and Family Advocates from Good Samaritan Family Resource Center.
o Participate in team meetings with staff within community partnerships.
o Work alongside partners in community outreach and family engagement.
o Develop and sustain strong, lasting partnerships with community agencies.
• Undertake other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
• Advanced degree in clinical social work, counseling or psychology required
• License to practice psychotherapy (LCSW, MFT or Psychologist) in California, or be license-eligible required
• Fluency in Spanish, with a demonstrated ability to provide clinical services to monolingual Spanish speakers is required
• Demonstrated experience providing direct client service to target population (including individual psychotherapy and group-based support for children and adolescents; crisis intervention; home visiting; and school-based services) preferred or required.
• Experience working with diverse cultural background
• Cultural sensitivity and humility in working with children in newcomer families and unaccompanied minors recently emigrated to the US is required
• Demonstrated proficiency with providing mental health services under a San Francisco Medi-Cal contract, including proficiency with the AVATAR billing and record-keeping system (or similar electronic health record systems).
• Demonstrated proficiency with the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths Assessment (CANS) (or similar assessment instruments).
• Familiarity with San Francisco EPSDT policies and procedures including certification, charting, and billing.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with service providers from other disciplines, especially teachers and other education professionals.
• Knowledge of child development and family dynamics.
• Familiarity with services available in the community.
• Ability to work with diverse staff and client populations.
• Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
• Prior experience with populations served by Safe and Sound.
• Should have access to transportation to quickly attend offsite meetings.
• Must be able to pass criminal background check.

• Experience working in an outcome-focused, comprehensive service delivery model.
• Warm, positive stance as foundation of clinical work.
• Thoughtful, flexible, capable of addressing immediate needs and building rapport with clients while concurrently assessing the acuity of a situation for potential crisis intervention.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
• Full-time (40 hours per week).
• Exempt position.
• Most work will be during the school day, with some weekend & holiday hours expected as well.
