Child and Family Therapist for Lynn Center:

VistAbility, formerly Contra Costa ARC,: is a non-profit human service agency dedicated to serving children at risk, and children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Lynn Center is Contra Costa Arc’s Early Intervention Program and Preschool for children with special needs from birth to six years of age. Lynn Center also provides therapeutic services for families with children up to age 18.

Summary:

Under general supervision, The Child and Family Therapist provides clinical mental health services to children and families in clinic, home or community based settings.

Duties include:

  • Provides individual or group counseling services to parents/guardians.
  • Provides play therapy to individual children in a clinical setting or natural environment.
  • Provides support and /or therapy in child’s daycare or preschool and support to preschool teacher or day care teacher.
  • Provides case management services to families on caseload.
  • Documents appropriately and provide formal and informal assessment of child’s mental health needs.
  • Conducts parent support groups and/or training sessions.
  • Facilitates wraparound meetings
  • May also provide support to the Children’s Mental Health Specialist.

Qualifications include:

  • LCSW or MFT. Applicants must be licensed or license eligible (supervised hours completed). Interns will be considered.
  • Knowledge of in-home assessment and intervention services for children under 6 year of age with behavior and emotional problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, in Professional English.
  • Continuous, verifiable experience with children under the age of six with behavioral and emotional problems, with an emphasis on family work. Must include outpatient play therapy and group work experiences.
  • Spanish Speaking preferred
  • Must meet State licensing requirements involving health screening and Department of Justice clearance. California Driver’s license, good driving record and use of a vehicle required (mileage reimbursement provided).

Hours: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week 8-3:30 or 8:30-4

Location: office in Pittsburg and caseload will be in East and Far East Contra Costa County

Pay range:

$23 interns under 1,000 hours

$24 when at 1,000 hours

$25 when at 2,000 hours

$30 once licensed
