POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is an apprenticeship intended to support the field of psychotherapy and the local community by increasing the availability of culturally competent trauma specialists. The apprentice will receive direct clinical supervision and guidance from a nationally recognized trauma expert who is credentialed by the AAMFT in clinical supervision. This position is intended to be filled by a post-graduate, pre-licensed intern or by an early career psychotherapist. This position exists to support individuals seeking assistance with their mental health functioning in order to improve quality of life and their opportunities for success in home and community environments. This position serves adults through Telehealth and in-person, in office-based settings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide culturally relevant, compassionate and ethical psychotherapy to assigned clients
  • Complete a variety of mental health assessments as assigned or otherwise deemed clinically appropriate
  • Assist with delivery of professional trainings on various mental health topics
  • Complete clinical documentation as required
  • Document services outcome measures as required
  • Maintain up to date case files within electronic health record (EHR) system
  • Actively participate in routinely scheduled clinical consultation
  • Complete periodic training as required
  • Maintain good standing with the appropriate professional board entities
  • Complete and maintain all required continuing education requirements for specific licensure and specializations
  • Stay current with updated research and best practices

QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensure/Certification

  • Active Registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate MFT or similar licensure status

AND

Will obtain an unrestricted professional license from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences within ninety (90) days of hire date

OR

  • Active and unrestricted license to practice psychotherapy in the state of California

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree or higher in counseling or a related field
  • Experience assessing, diagnosing, and treating a broad range of mental health conditions in adults
