CLASS 2930 BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CLINICIAN

The Department of Public Health’s Special Programs for Youth located at the Juvenile Justice Center, is recruiting for one (1) full time position in class 2930 Behavioral Health Clinician.

The mission of Special Programs for Youth (SPY), a program of the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH), Community Oriented Primary Care (COPC) Division is to provide and coordinate comprehensive health services to youth detained at the Juvenile Justice Center (JJC) and Log Cabin Ranch (LCR). SPY strives to be client-focused and to promote positive outcomes for the youth we serve. SPY is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team who is dedicated to providing quality, culturally-proficient and accessible health services to all youth at JJC and LCR. SPY offers primary medical care, behavioral health services, dental care, and health education, as well as coordination of subspecialty services and screening for sexually transmitted infections (STI).

SHIFT

: 8:00 am-4:30 pm (Monday), 12:30 pm-9:00 pm (Tues, Wed, Thur, Fri). Candidate will also be required to work one holiday shift a year. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Under general supervision, the Psychiatric Social Worker performs the following essential job functions:

  • Provides a broad range of clinical and case management services to youth residing at the Juvenile Hall including assessment, individual, group, and family therapy;
  • Provides crisis intervention/stabilization, suicide risk assessment, and behavioral support to youth;
  • Collaborates with other multidisciplinary staff and service providers on the development and implementation of client’s plan of care;
  • Compiles and maintains electronic health records for each client in AVATAR and other documentation in accordance with system standards and requirements of Special Programs for Youth and the Department of Public Health; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications License and Certification :
Possession of a valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) OR
Current registration as an Associate Social Worker (ASW) license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS); OR
Possession of a valid Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS); OR
Possession of a valid Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (MFTI) license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS); OR
Possession of a valid Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS); OR
Possession of a valid Professional Clinical Counselor Intern (PCCI) license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).

Special Condition:

  • Fluency in Spanish/English

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the mental health, social and cultural needs of incarcerated and at risk adolescents.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience working with incarcerated and at risk adolescent population.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment/management.
