POSITION: First Five Intern Therapist

SUPERVISOR: : Clinical Supervisor and Counseling Center Program Manager JOB STATUS: Part-Time I Seasonal (non-exempt)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor and the Program Manager, the Intern Therapist will be responsible to provide individual and group counseling services, case management, and provide consultation services to the First Five staff.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proper treatment of clientele within the scope of practice, and appropriate referral if a client needs care outside the Intern Therapist’s scope of practice or competency
  • Adhere to the ethical and legal responsibilities deemed by the California Board of Behavioral Science as an Intern Therapist
  • Responsible for professional growth and development; including attendance at continuing education workshops and in-service trainings/workshops
  • Steadfast establishment of boundaries with clientele and unyield in the engagement in social or other type of dual relationship
  • Maintain client files that adhere to standards of City Impact as set forth by the guidelines established through the California Board of Behavioral Science
  • Clear understanding that all clients and files belong to the City Impact Counseling Center
  • Receptive to have all written documentation evaluated by Clinical Supervisor and or Program Manager
  • Interpersonal skills to include collaboration, team building and decision-making
  • Work within school district policy
  • Must follow Mandated Reporting procedures
  • Presentation and facilitation skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Plan, organize and coordinate components of multiple projects
  • Read, analyze and implement technical information related to the assigned project
  • Troubleshoot and solve project issues and problems
  • Meet schedules and timelines

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
First Five Intern Therapist will work with the Clinical Supervisor and Program Manager to:

  • Adhere to City Impact’s Counseling Center Policies and Procedures
  • Evaluate, diagnose, develop and implement a treatment plan according to service provisions of the First 5 contract
  • Schedule all client appointments and follow program protocol when scheduling new clients or groups
  • Check assigned voicemail and cell phone to retrieve work related messages at beginning, middle and end of day
  • Submit to the Receptionist a copy of your weekly appointment calendar with client phone numbers and hours of availability
  • Responsible to ensure clients are aware of and adhere to the program attendance policy
  • Understand and adhere to the legal and ethical standards held by profession, and inform Clinical Program Supervisor of client issues/information
  • Communicates regularly with school personnel (teachers, support staff, counselors, school psychologist, and administrators) as needed
  • Attend weekly group supervision and individual supervision for trainees/interns
  • Prepare and participate in supervision by reviewing cases, bringing up relevant issues and coordinate case presentation
  • Provide appropriate and meaningful referrals to other services needed by family
  • Must consult with Clinical Supervisor regarding any case in which legal and/or ethical issues arise, including, but not limited to; the need to break confidentiality in cases of suspected child/elder/dependent adult abuse, danger to self or others and suicidality
  • Cooperate with fellow co-workers and collaborative schools
  • Understand contract obligations established between the satellite office, and collaborative schools when sessions are conducted off-site and notify Program Manager of any questions/concerns
  • Attend all City Impact’s staff meetings, Staff Advance, trainings and project meetings
  • Involvement and participation in all City Impact’s Development activities
  • Ability to provide personal transportation and travel to different schools for daily activities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit for an hour or more at a time
  • Ability to stoop, stand, sit for extended periods
  • Ability to reach overhead and push, pull or lift objects weighing approximately 15 pounds
  • Ability to utilize the computer and work with electronic medical records

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • MSW, MA or MS Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field
  • Computer proficient
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish} written and oral skills required

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
  • Provide copies of:
  • Master’s Degree
  • Professional Liability Policy
  • National Provider Identification Number o Valid California Driver’s License
  • Proof of current Auto Liability Insurance (100/300 Bodily Injury)
  • Candidate must successfully pass a background check
