The Outpatient Therapist at Seneca Santa Clara Connections program is responsible for the ongoing provision of culturally competent mental health services to clients and their families, including individual and family therapy.  It is their responsibility to strive to provide the best possible treatment for their clients and their families.  The Outpatient Therapist is also responsible for documentation to comply with agency-wide requirements as well as the requirements of the various counties with whom we work. Services will be provided almost exclusively in the community: in families’ homes, group homes, foster homes, schools, etc.

Job Duties:

  • Provide weekly individual therapy for 14-18 clients and families.
  • Meet weekly with clients’ families for family therapy as appropriate.
  • Coordinates case management services for clients and caregivers.
  • Collaborates with agency staff, caregivers, other professionals and interested parties to formulate and implement individual client treatment plans, behavioral programs and interventions.
  • Chart mental health notes, treatment plans, outcome measures, incident reports, and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain professional behavior at all times, appropriately representing the Seneca mission and philosophy.
  • Function as team leader and uphold the ideals of the program.
  • Maintain close communication with other Seneca providers to design, implement, and monitor treatment planning for clients
  • Communicate with outside professionals involved with clients as needed.
  • Meet weekly with other clinical staff for team supervision/case conference and present cases on a rotating basis.
  • Attend weekly individual supervision meetings.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed including aiding in physical management of the clients using Seneca’s Ahimsa Model Training.
  • Perform other duties deemed necessary by supervisor.
  • Carries out functions and responsibilities as it pertains to giving orders and conducting evaluations of clients in restraint/seclusion as per Seneca Center Crisis Intervention Policy Section 8.

Hours:

  • Monday-Friday, full time

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Counseling or other Behavioral Sciences.
  • Must maintain current licensure or be a registered intern with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an ASW or MFTi.
  • Previous clinical experience working with children and families strongly preferred
  • Maintain a criminal record and a Child Abuse Index clearance and agency auto insurance eligibility.
  • Own vehicle, valid California driver’s license and insurance.
  • Clearance of TB test, fingerprints, and any other mandatory State/Federal licensing or certification requirements.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Cultural competency
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Willing to respond to crisis situations and be part of a rotating emergency on call system
  • Bilingual skills strongly desired
