MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR/ASSISTANT PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Strong case-management skills, needs assessment and treatment planning required for non-profit adult residential treatment facility for the mentally disabled.

Full-time 40hrs, Monday – Friday

Founded in 1971, La Casa is a 24-hour residential treatment program. With 13-beds for young women and men (ages 18-24); re-entering the community after psychiatric hospitalization, the Oakland-based program is located in a beautiful Julia Morgan home. As an alternative to hospitalization, our goal is to provide a supportive environment which empowers and prepares the client for independent living. Our on-site day treatment program prepares the client with practical life skills training including health and wellness practices, basic nutrition, physical fitness, art group, gardening and weekly community outings.

The women and men living in La Casa cook and eat meals together, jointly plan and carry out house hold chores, and otherwise share the responsibilities and rewards of managing their home. A unique feature of La Casa is the opportunity it provides for each resident to help plan her or his treatment program.

You will facilitate and lead therapeutic client groups.The candidate must be proficient in group dynamics which enable mental wellness and empowerment, including client encouragement.

Ability to provide client assessment, knowledge of DSM-V and UR is a plus.

Ability to lead and work cooperatively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Minimum of three years of experience, MA.

We provide excellent clinical supervision, provided by LMFT; currently most staff have masters in psychology or social work.

Car is required; and sense of humor mandatory.

Leader of Feelings Group. Co-leader of clinical meeting and house meeting with Program Director. Supervise and facilitate other therapeutic groups including Day Program groups.

Job supervisor for all substitute counselors.

Shift 40 hours:

Monday 9am-5pm;
Tuesday 10:30am-6:30pm;
Wedensday 9am-5pm;
Thursday;10:30am-6:30pm;
(Thursday clinical mtg 12-4pm)
Friday 9am-5pm;

We are licensed by the California Department of Health Care as an Adult Residential Treatment Facility. All candidate must be acceptable to CA Community Care; and with DOJ finger print clearance.

FULL-TIME POSITON

Salary is $55-60K plus benefits, includes twenty days vacation/sick leave, healthcare and dental.
