Sitike Counseling Center, an Outpatient mental health, substance use disorder and violence prevention agency in South San Francisco, is seeking a full-time counselor for our Women’s Intensive Day Treatment and Outpatient programs. You will facilitate Intensive Outpatient, Outpatient, and DUI, groups and individual sessions. Bilingual Spanish speaking candidate is a plus. MFT interns with appropriate experience are encouraged to apply.

The position schedule is Monday through Thursday, from 10:30am to 9pm.

You will work in our Women’s Intensive Outpatient program in the morning and early afternoon and work in our Outpatient and DUI programs in the afternoon and evening.

The position requires a fingerprint background check, CPR and First Aid training, and a health exam and TB screening.

Hourly rate of pay is based on experience and education. Familiarity with Drug MediCal is desired but not required. Additional hourly bonus for Bilingual Spanish speaking, and/or certified Domestic Violence Treatment counselors.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive assessments, and collaborative treatment planning
  • Perform individual and or group treatment in accordance with best practices and under the supervision of a supervisor.
  • Collaborate and coordinate care with community resources
  • Responsible to maintain legal and ethical therapeutic relationships with clients and follow all program contract rules.
  • Maintain welcoming and culturally appropriate counseling and education.
  • Nurture relationships, collaborate and coordinate services with community partners regularly.
  • Engage in regular individual and group supervision and discuss cases, consult in crisis situations and treatment planning and execution.
  • Set appropriate limits to ensure safety for clients and staff.
  • Maintain documentation and files in accordance with contract requirements and California law.
  • Test for alcohol or drug intoxication when program requirements or clinical necessity dictates, either by observed urine testing or use of a breathalyzer.
  • Lock all confidential client data prior to leaving office.
  • Return phone calls within 24 hours.
  • Secure coverage for clients when away on vacation whether with managers or clinical supervisor
  • Continuing Education is a requirement by law for your certification and agency contract requirements.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a current and valid State of California Alcohol and Drug Certificate

and registration with a State approved certifying agency OR have a MFT license OR MFTI registration.

  • Minimum two (2) years experience facilitating DUI/Outpatient groups.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience providing counseling.
  • Ability to relate to and educate a wide variety of people and an ability to set limits with adults.
  • Ability to maintain required and appropriate records.
  • Knowledge of alcoholism and other drug addictions.
  • Familiarity with recovery programs, 12 step programs and Bay Area resources.
  • Knowledge of DUI laws, issues, facts, etc.
  • If in recovery, two (2) years of continuous abstinence from alcohol and other drugs required.

Knowledge of: The methods and techniques of culturally competent early intervention and treatment methods for adults in individual and group settings. Knowledge and belief in collaboration and client centered treatment planning and service delivery. Knowledgeable about the diverse communities served by Sitike.

Ability to: perform crisis, early intervention and treatment to clients. Ability to take responsibility, learn and grow if early in professional development. Collaborate and implement individual and group treatment for a diverse geographical community in a comprehensive, collaborative, unduplicated manner; work harmoniously and cooperatively with co-workers, and community, school and coalition partners. Effectively use a variety of personal computer and web based software applications such as Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, the Internet, and email. Perform duties in a regular and consistent manner.
