Rape Crisis Therapist I (30hrs)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director and the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisors, the Post-Graduate Registered Intern is responsible for providing quality clinical treatment services to clients according to established policies and procedures. Quality of services is determined by professionally accepted standards as identified by the Board of Behavioral Services (BBS), C.A.S.A. established guidelines and practices, and emerging best practices in the field. Assist in the implementation of program activities in keeping with agency stated goals and objectives, facilitate effective communication within the organization, works collaboratively with all C.A.S.A. staff members, represent the agency in a professional manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

These essential tasks constitute the core functions of the Post-Graduate Registered Intern position. Competent performance of all essential tasks is critical to the continued internship and clinical supervision of the Post-Graduate Registered Intern.

  • Provides direct psychotherapy treatment, performing client psychosocial assessments, developing treatment plans and guiding the treatment process, developing exit plans, providing psychological and emotional support to clients
  • Works with children and adults using various modalities including individual, family and group therapy, as appropriate
  • Facilitates support groups.
  • Completes all required administrative activity, including clinical record keeping, in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Actively utilizes clinical supervision to develop and hone intervention skills and strategies.
  • Participates in all required staff meetings and training opportunities.
  • Works collaboratively with other C.A.S.A. support staff
  • Participates in training in trauma informed therapy as well as group supervision and individual supervision each week
  • In an attempt to foster greater client empowerment, all direct psychotherapy treatment duties are to be carried out through a client-driven model through which client input heavily shapes treatment plans and goals

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for employment in this position:

  • Registered MFT Intern, MSW Intern, ASW, Psychology Intern or Psychology Assistant. (Will also consider Student Trainee if the applicant is in their final year of graduate school and has previous experience working with children and/or trauma victims.)
  • Must have State Certified Training as a Sexual Assault Advocate
  • Good to excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including ability to relate to diverse client and community population
  • Fingerprinting and background clearance
  • Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, ability to transport self to job-related events and education locations
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Word
  • An interest in working with victims/survivors/witnesses of violence and abuse
  • Two years’ work or volunteer experience in a human services setting preferred
  • Experience as group facilitator, or with crisis intervention

  • This type of work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods
  • Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of the job

Child Abuse Advocacy Assistant Position (10hrs)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the direct supervision of the Advocacy Services Coordinator, the Volunteer Advocacy Services Assistant develops and implements the expansion of the sexual assault volunteer advocate program to include volunteer advocate services for child victims of crime, abuse, and/or neglect, expanding and enhancing the 42.5 Cal-OES certified training with topics required for CHAT volunteer advocates, ensuring sufficient CHAT coverage on the monthly calendar for 24/7 crisis hotline and accompaniment services. The Advocacy Services Coordinator provides for ongoing training and direct supervision and support of CHAT volunteer advocates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Expand the existing sexual assault volunteer advocate program to include volunteer advocates for CHAT clients
  • Expand the 42.5-hour CalOES certified training to include topics required for CHAT volunteer advocates not already covered in the current training
  • Ensure sufficient CHAT coverage on the monthly calendar for 24/7 crisis hotline and accompaniment services
  • Responsible for all follow-ups with all new CHAT clients. -Ensure that three follow-up attempts are made for all new clients unless they have indicated they do not want further contact. Create and maintain tracking form or tickler file if necessary
  • Track CHAT Volunteer Advocate hours by shift for time sheets for CalOES reimbursement for grant compliance, record quarterly hour time sheets by shift signed monthly by volunteers, enter volunteer hours by month in APRICOT. Provide monthly timesheets to bookkeeper to be included in monthly bookkeeping file for reimbursements.
  • Schedule CHAT Advocates for court accompaniment as needed
  • Provide CHAT Advocates and staff with calendared on-going training meetings totaling 12 hours annually and ensure topics are relevant to CHAT volunteer advocates
  • Create and update CHAT volunteer phone and contract information lists as needed and provide to answering service, all staff and advocates
  • Create and maintain all CHAT volunteer advocate personnel files and update monthly with hours, on-going training participation. Audit files annually
  • Provide continuous communication with CHAT volunteer advocates about crisis calls, schedule changes, notification/reminders of meeting or events
  • Expanded Sexual Assault Counselor State Certified Training to include CHAT topics- Assist the Advocacy Service Coordinator in providing a minimum of three State Certified Trainings annually
  • Revise and expand the C.A.S.A. Resource Manual to include additional resources for CHAT clients and update a minimum of once a year
  • Conduct annual CHAT volunteer advocate evaluations on a rotating schedule
  • Schedule in-service for CPS at least twice a year
  • Provide assistance for completing TRO’s
  • Represent C.A.S.A. at monthly RCCAT and quarterly CSEC meetings
  • Create and maintain survivor packets for CHAT clients
  • Provide advocacy to walk-ins and crisis phone calls during business hours as needed
  • Attend conferences and trainings as the grants allow
  • Other duties from time to time as assigned by the Executive Director

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a Crisis Intervention Training certified by OES (CASA will provide training)
  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field
  • Two years’ experience in the delivery of direct services to child abuse victims
  • Work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends, as well as willingness and ability to work in crisis-oriented situations
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, teamwork orientation, and ability to motivate wide range of people. Sensitivity to issues of cultural diversity

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

  • Considerable skills and knowledge of training techniques
  • Skill in public speaking and customer service
  • Ability to relate and work with a broad and varied population; ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures to ambiguous situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
